POSITION SUMMARY: With general supervision, responsible for any combination of engineering technical duties which require a high degree of accuracy in one or more of the following functions: Materials & Processes, Dynamics, Electronic, Mechanical, Calibration and Customer Support. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: MATERIALS & PROCESSES Operate most laboratory equipment including: rockwell hardness, micro hardness, tensile testing, emission spectroscopy, contamination, metallurgical preparation, etc. Utilize precision gauging equipment, micrometers, dial indicators, surface plate, microscopes. Prepare test reports based on specification requirements. Demonstrate a working knowledge of materials & processes specifications. DYNAMICS Devise, set-up, and operate digital sine/random, shock test equipment including: accelerometer hook ups, centrifuge, oscilloscopes, hookups, oscillographs and x-y plotters. Perform post test disassembly and assist in analysis. Interpret comprehensive data and prepare accurate activity reports on which decisions will be based. Demonstrate a working knowledge of Mil-Std-81O with respect to dynamic testing, and knowledge of environmental testing of fuel, hydraulic, and pneumatic component parts. ELECTRONIC Devise, improvise, and trouble shoot electronic circuits and instrumentation set-ups. Perform testing of electronic circuits using standard and specialized electronic test equipment following verbal or written instructions. Demonstrate a working knowledge of electronic principles, data acquisition computers, process control systems, micro processor applications, and automatic test equipment. MECHANICAL Assemble component parts based on assembly drawings. Devise or improvise, set-up and trouble shoot experimental or limited run assembly and/or test activities based on test documents, oral and/or written instructions. Perform post test disassembly and assist in analysis. Interpret comprehensive data and prepare accurate activity reports on which decisions will be based. Utilize specialized lab test equipment including: recording oscillographs, oscilloscopes, flow measuring equipment and computerized test equipment where applicable. Demonstrate a working knowledge of fluid power systems and cryogenic materials. CALIBRATION Performs calibration on various types of semi-complex electronic measuring and test equipment (M&TE). Demonstrates ability to proficiently set-up calibration test conditions interpreting calibration procedures, engineering specifications, schematics, or related documents. Documents and evaluates historical data to determine calibration intervals. Diagnoses and develops calibration procedures. Demonstrates general knowledge of electronic principles and calibration requirements per National and International Standards. CUSTOMER SUPPORT Performs maintenance and inspection on a variety of hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, and/or electronic products and systems. Assists with investigations into customer reports of technical product or service problems. May provide on-site technical assistance to repair, replace or take other corrective action; may perform rework or inspection of Parker's fielded hardware. Maintains and analyzes detailed performance and maintenance service records. May instruct customers on the operation and proper use and maintenance of equipment and ensures accuracy of work instructions and service handbooks and bulletins. Facilitates coordination with OEM divisions to complete corrective actions. ALL SPECIALTIES Utilize hand and power tools. Maintain up-to-date qualification data and daily log books on each project. Interface with employees from other functional areas i.e. design engineering, process manufacturing, quality control and vendors. Assist less experienced personnel. Perform other related responsibilities JOB REQUIREMENTS: Four years related experience, related trade or military training, or demonstrated ability to perform described responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to read engineering drawings, sketches, schematics and procedures. Basic PC and electronic console skills where applicable. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Personal hand tools may be required. May be required to lift up to 5O lbs. Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player. Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $50,182.00/annually to $83,637.00/annually. This position is subject to meeting U.S. export compliance and/or U.S. Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements.
