About the role:

Alcoa Warrick is looking for an Environmental Technician. This role is responsible for supporting the development, implementation and follow through of environmental procedures to align with regulatory requirements and to meet site objectives.

Major activities/Key challenges:

  • Be visible and accessible at the plant site every day while coordinating with production staff to address areas of concern.
  • Lead on-the-floor audits of Alcoa's pot practice protocols and ensure follow up to optimally close gaps and present findings.
  • Coordinate with and offer support to the on-site environmental laboratory to ensure timely analysis of all required permit samples.
  • Help ensure environmental monitoring equipment is accurately maintained.
  • Assist with environmental sampling data and compiling of sampling data reports.
  • Assist with air and water field sampling programs which include visible emissions, stormwater, and SPCC compliance.
  • Participate in environmental incident investigations including determining root cause analyses with follow-up on identified corrective actions.
  • Oversee baghouse optimization and maintenance program.
  • Assist with onsite contractor management
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and Kaizen events
  • Assist with routine water compliance inspections and identified facility routes.
  • Deliver routine training to production staff including new hire training

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing or similar environment
  • Must be self-motivating with excellent facilitator and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have good knowledge of operations and procedures and be capable of communicating and consulting optimally with others.
  • Understanding of the following information system software applications: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant industry and technical experience
  • 1-3 years of EHS experience
  • Four-year environmental or science degree
  • EPA Method 9 Certification
