WEX Corporate Payments is a highly innovative, and fast-paced division of WEX Inc., and this role will have you focused on delivering commercial payments solutions-at great scale and value-to our Commercial Direct clients, working hand in hand with our Sales Managers and many of our client-facing teams.

The Solutions Engineer (SE) is primarily responsible for establishing the overall strategic, operational and technical scope of new business opportunities with prospects and clients. Part Business Analyst, part technician, part Sales Person, the SE works closely with Sales Managers and Directors, Implementation Managers, Supplier Enablement, and Account/Relationship Managers to understand strategic business issues and then craft and communicate solution strategies.

How you'll make an impact

  • Working closely with Sales Managers and prospective clients to understand strategic business needs, assist in solving issues they may have, and then identify and communicate how our card/non-card products will support them

  • Work with stakeholders (clients, partners, other WEX employees) to define the requirements and success criteria of each statement of work and/or project

  • Earning client and partner trust through communication, technical knowledge and functional expertise

  • Contributing to projects having to do with unlocking new revenue streams, new products or enhancements to existing, client or platform migration and strategic team initiatives

Experience you'll bring

  • 5-8 years of experience in the commercial payments (B2B) space

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication capabilities, with both business/functional people and teams, and highly technical individuals

  • Effective collaboration skills across multiple teams

  • Practical problem-solving capabilities as it relates to a clients needs and wants

  • Solid "techno-functional" ability to work hands-on with technology and demonstrate our product, as well as understand and communicate business objectives

  • Ability to adjust approach and communication style based on personalities and goals of clients/stakeholders

  • Ability to present effectively, command attention, explain proposed solutions, and answer detailed questions from across the spectrum

  • Ability to handle fast-paced activity and higher volume backlog of clients

  • A strong consulting background is a requirement as is comfort with sales

  • Knowledge of financial business processes, such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Procurement, and Travel and Expense.

  • Must have a working understanding of Physical Card, Virtual and Ghost Card, ACH/EFT/Wire, and Check payments applications in the commercial (B2B) space. Both Real Time Payments and Mobile Payments applications are a bonus

  • Working knowledge of a card transaction life cycle

  • ERP system implementations (preferred)

  • Proficiency with personal and project productivity tools including Google Suite, MS Office, Salesforce, green screens and other in house tools

  • Analytical skills as related to payment issues, payment cycles, and transactional flows

  • A strong foundation in technology including API - SOAP, REST, file/data transfer protocols

  • Experience working for/with Clients or Partners focused on Accounts Payables (AP) and/or Accounts Receivables (AR) processes

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
