Ramboll is accepting applications for the Summer 2025 internship program at our office located in Arlington, VA. Each participant will be assigned a mentor who will guide them through project assignments. The program will provide internship participants with the opportunity to gain experience working in one or more practice areas within our Water division. Our goal is to afford our interns experience with a variety of projects during the summer program to broaden their understanding an experience within their field of interest.

Job Description

This internship focuses on applying AI-driven solutions to engineering and project management tasks. The intern will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and technical teams to develop and refine generative AI prompts, evaluate AI models, and explore emerging technologies such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). The role involves research, prototyping, and integration of AI solutions tailored to design and construction projects for factories, infrastructure, and buildings in the US.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with teams to identify and document AI use cases for engineering, design, and construction.
  • Develop, test, and optimize AI prompts for various generative models, including internal large language models (LLMs) and frontier models.
  • Support the integration of RAG solutions and deep research tools for project-related information retrieval.
  • Assist in the evaluation of new AI and machine learning technologies relevant to industrial projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, prototype solutions, and evaluate performance metrics.
  • Document findings, maintain records of ongoing experiments, and present recommendations to stakeholders.
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of AI/ML principles and demonstrated ability to use large language models for complex reasoning.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and manage multiple tasks.
  • Interest in construction, infrastructure, or industrial engineering is advantageous.
  • Experience with Python or similar programming languages is a plus.
