Role and Responsibilities:


Are you passionate about ensuring a top-notch dining experience? RW Solutions is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Meals on Wheels Cafe Manager to join our dynamic team! As a Cafe Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the cafe, while promoting food safety, health standards, and a welcoming environment for all guests.



  • Manage all aspects of the cafe's daily operations, ensuring that the service runs smoothly and efficiently during business hours.

  • Oversee cafe staff, including cooks, servers, and dishwashers, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.

  • Train new employees, ensure they understand food safety protocols, customer service expectations, and job-specific duties.

  • Ensure all staff are trained in and follow local health department regulations, including food handling, cleanliness, and sanitation practices.

  • Create and manage employee schedules to ensure the cafe is adequately staffed during peak hours.

  • Conduct regular evaluations of staff performance, providing feedback and setting goals for improvement.

  • Ensure that all meals meet the center's nutritional, taste, and quality standards.

  • Regularly check food safety guidelines, including food temperatures and sanitation practices, ensuring compliance with local health regulations.

  • Supervise and assist in meal service, ensuring prompt delivery and customer satisfaction, and managing special dietary needs of seniors.

  • Foster a positive, efficient team culture through effective leadership, leading by example in customer service, food quality, and teamwork.

  • Greet guests warmly, address concerns, and maintain a welcoming environment.

  • Monitor guest feedback and address complaints or suggestions to improve the overall dining experience.

  • Ensure all reservations and pre-ordered meals are organized, with a focus on accuracy and timely preparation.

  • Keep track of food supplies, order necessary stock, and ensure proper rotation and storage of products.

  • Help with setting up the cafe, preparing meals, and cleaning dishes after meals.

  • Address and resolve any workplace issues or conflicts, ensuring a positive working environment.

  • Document and acknowledge meal donations, ensuring the timely delivery of thank you notes or follow-ups.

  • Maintain detailed records of food inventory, meal donations, staff schedules, and any incidents or accidents that may occur.


Qualifications:



  • Must have a valid driver's license (Required)

  • Minimum of 2-3 years in food service position, with hands-on experience in both front-of-house and back-of-house operations or equivalent experience in a similar role.

  • Minimum of (1) year in a supervisory role, overseeing a team of employees, including providing training, managing schedules, and conducting performance evaluations. working in a cafeteria, restaurant, or similar setting (Preferred)


Preferred Skills:



  • Experience working in a senior center, nursing home, assisted living, or similar environment is highly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices, ensuring the highest standards for meal preparation and service highly preferred.

  • Ability to interact professionally with a wide range of guests, volunteers, and team members.

  • Certification in food safety (e.g., ServSafe or similar).

  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with staff, guests, donors, and senior center staff.

  • Problem-solving ability to resolve operational challenges quickly and effectively.

  • Compassion and patience when working with senior citizens, understanding their needs and providing care-oriented service.


Physical Demands:



  • Must be able to stand for extended periods during meal service and throughout shifts.

  • Frequently walking around the cafe, kitchen, and dining areas to manage staff, check food preparation, and interact with guests.

  • Ability to lift and carry items such as trays, boxes of supplies, and food ingredients, typically up to 25-30 pounds.

  • Regularly reaching for items on shelves, bending to clean or organize areas, and handling various kitchen tasks.

  • Reasonable accommodations can be provided.


Environmental Demands:



  • Exposure to heat from ovens, stoves, and kitchen appliances, along with noise from kitchen equipment and staff.

  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals (e.g., disinfectants) while maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas.

  • Temperature Variations.

  • Movement through busy dining and kitchen areas with the potential for crowded spaces during service hours.
