Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Central Sterile Technician II for the Office for Clinical Affairs within the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine ( RSDM).

Under supervision, the Central Sterile Technician II performs work related to the care, sterilization, packing and disbursement of equipment and supplies. In addition, the Central Sterile Technician II maintains all aspects of sterilization procedures related to dental instruments and supplies associated with patient care within the various clinical operators.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Operates and monitors steam autoclaves, sonic washers and other sterilization equipment. Keeps records of loads completed, items in loads, and maintenance procedures performed.
  • Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, equipment, and assembles wraps and sterilizer cassettes, trays and instruments. Follows proper standard precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.
  • Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and equipment.
  • Maintains necessary supply levels in sterile storage areas.
  • Examines equipment to detect leak, worn or loose parts, or other indications of disrepair.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • One (1) year of experience in a healthcare , medical or dental setting or a closely related setting using sterile procedures.
  • New Jersey Central Service Certification is required for this position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of decontamination, sterilization, assembly, packing and monitoring of instrumentation.
