The Risk Officer will be responsible for the development and delivery of innovative risk practices and oversight of the VCS and VGS businesses. This role is collaborative, execution-oriented and requires practical and strategic understanding of Visa and our businesses and demonstrated experience bringing products to market. The position must work collaboratively with cross-functional and geographically diverse teams to drive sustainable business growth, product innovation and sound risk management infrastructure.This role will report directly to the Global Risk Officer, Commercial & Money Movement Solutions (CMS) Risk.This role will be a key member of the CMS Risk leadership team. - Lead the risk oversight and champion Visa's risk appetite across VCS and VGS, supporting strategic objectives through the identification of risks & mitigation activity, providing effective challenge to the first line business units to ensure appropriate mitigation is applied.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with the business and cross functional partners to educate and embed Lifecycle Risk Management Practices and infuse Risk Management culture into the organization.
- Drive compliance with Programs (NBIA, RCSA, TLMP, DUCA, etc) and attend product roadmap reviews to assess and identify potential New Business Initiative Assessments (NBIA) and partner with initiative owner to instill cycle time discipline and rigor within the process.
- Influence and train 1stline Business Risk Champions as the business unit risk owners to identify and mitigate risks across risk stripes (strategic, product, operational, financial, reputation, ecosystem, 3rdparty, legal & regulatory, compliance, etc) and raise risk issues and events that materialized and in need of remediation plans.
- Develop a bottom up (e.g., from NBIAs, RCSAs, operational risk events) and top down (key risks from senior leadership) view on risks which then feed into quarterly risk reporting, inclusive of the risk profile of the business unit. Partner with 1st line to reduce risk exposure proactively.
- Lead efforts in supporting the execution of strategically important risk initiatives, continuously improving resiliency and controls effectiveness with a risk-based approach informed by focused deep dives.
- Monitor the effectiveness of risk management to ensure mitigating measures are effective in protecting the business and the wider Visa enterprise, through monitoring risk (e.g., managing risk registers, developing KRIs measurement system) and working with Visa Global Risk and other functional centers of excellence to ensure appropriate incorporation into first and second line control programs.
- Drive updates to leadership, audit, regulators, and other external parties on risk management activities for the business.
- Collaborate with Regional Risk Offices to assess new business initiatives and fit for purpose risk and fraud capabilities for regional clients.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Escalate key concerns to Product, Risk Executives , Third Party Risk, and Policy, while identifying potential mitigations and solutions.
- Present and participate in Risk and Business Leadership Team forums and Quarterly Risk Profiles.
- Build relationships and gain exposure to Product Risk Leadership team and Regional Risk teams by presenting at Leadership teams meetings and roundtables.

Basic Qualifications
- 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
- 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
- 7+ years of relevant Risk experience within either financial services or technology organizations
- Business acumen, understanding of the payments industry, including applicable regulatory environment, products/services, and the broader competitive landscape.
- Proven experience in assessing risks across an enterprise, including operational, technology and regulatory risks.
- A clear understanding of the Three Lines of Defense model and its application across financial and technology firms
- Sufficient expertise to provide effective oversight of the risks inherent in the business and prior experience with reducing residual risk levels.
- Collaborative, with experience managing deliverables across global and local teams.
- Demonstrated analytical, process and problem-solving skills, ability to be both strategic and tactical.
- Proven ability to accomplish results and exercise influence in a large, global, matrix organization.
- General awareness of the payments products and technology that supports the payment ecosystem.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and facilitation skills, plus ability to work independently and effectively in a continually changing environment.
- Clear thinker with strong technical and data analysis skills, plus solid management, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to develop strong relationships and work with all organizational levels.
- Advanced knowledge, skill and understanding in applying risk management practices specifically as it relates to Enterprise and Operational Risk (assessment, scoring, tolerance, mitigation/ management)
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department. Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time. Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
