We have an exciting Laboratory Technician opportunity in our Guymon, OK processing plant. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for assisting in maintaining good manufacturing practices (GMP) and assisting in maintaining the overall food safety and quality of product.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Maintain accurate records to assure consistency of food safety and product quality, compliance to regulatory agency requirements and documentation of HACCP procedures
  • Sample USDA compliance carcasses on the E. coli rail for tetrycycline residue
  • Analyze feed and ingredient composition for live side production
  • Evaluate automatic meat recovery product for central nervous system material, calcium and iron content
  • Examine rendering materials composition for specified management personnel
  • Create and send reports to specified management personnel
  • Monitor GMP's, and other aspects of food safety.
  • Must be able to learn all areas of the Quality Assurance Laboratory.
  • Must be highly self motivated, needing little supervision
  • Has to be able to easily follow written or verbal directions
  • Must be able to attain knife training certificate through Seaboard Foods Training program


QUALIFICATIONS



  • A high school diploma or GED is required. A two-year or higher college degree is preferred. One or more years' experience in meat processing, or closely related industry is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to perform necessary calculations for completion of reports and other written documents. Use of basic math is required; knowledge of statistical process control is helpful.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to make decisions on routine matters utilizing company policies and procedures and directions from upper management.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions.
