Student Associate-Legal Clinic

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will support the University of Iowa College of Law Federal Criminal Defense Clinic during summer 2025. Duties include:

• Perform administrative tasks associated with the decarcerationProject ("Project"), including but not limited to, record keeping and engaging in data analysis.
• Designmedia materials (traditional and social) related to the Project.
• Provide feedback on various client-related projects from the prospective of a non-lawyer and work with law students to ensure that work product is persuasive to a non-legal audience.
• Assist in other non-legal case-related functions as the need arises.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Direct supervision will be administered by Professor Alison K. Guernsey

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and be positive and respectful in working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, including individuals who are currently or formerly incarcerated.
  
  
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Proficient using computers and related software, including Word, Excel,Outlook, and Adobe.
• Reasonable experience in handling multiple assignments, conflicting demands or priorities.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Enrolled as a student in the preceding Spring semester or upcoming Fall semester

SALARY:

$12.00 per hour

WORK HOURS:

25-30hours per week from June 2, 2025, through August 15, 2025
