HGA is looking for a talented, ambitious, design professional who enjoys being part of collaborative project teams where diversity of thought, background and experiences creates new energy. You'll be working on all phases of design and construction documentation with clients in our Public|Corporate and ACE practices. This position requires excellent communication, time management, and technical skills as you work closely with a Project Architect, Project Manager or Principal and a team of consultants developing design concepts into high quality documents.



In this role you will:

    Develop a thorough understanding of projects' design philosophy and provides major input in developing a design and building performance strategy, effectively conveying this to assigned team members when appropriate.
  1. Provide technical design input and support for the development of the entire design concept. Responsible for a project's technical design effort, subsequent detailed design development, project coordination and quality control efforts during all phases of project work, in close collaboration with a Project Architect, Senior Designer and Project Manager.
  2. Seek creative and innovative solutions to assigned tasks and develops appropriate research and documents to support these solutions.
  3. Actively collaborates with and coordinates work of consultants and knowledge resources to ensure the project deliverables are coordinated, integrated and support the design concept and performance goals of the project.
  4. Contribute to the preparation of design documents and leads the detailed development of construction documents during all project phases, delivering complete, accurate and coordinated project documentation.
  5. Advance the production of schematic, design development and construction document drawings and specifications in compliance with project scope, schedule, cost and design intent.
  6. Review and coordinate project documents with relevant Building Codes, City Planning/Zoning ordinances and similar requirements for Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
  7. Maintain awareness of evolving building technology and systems.
  8. Review shop drawings, material samples and Construction Documents for conformance with design.
  9. Perform construction administration duties (e.g. RFI's, RFP's, change orders, etc.)
  10. Maintain contact with clients, consultants and contractors during all project phases, participating in marketing, client and owner presentations as required.


You will need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture; Master's degree preferred
  • Division of the State Architect (DSA) and Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Experience preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience working on small and large-scale project types
  • Strong graphic skills
  • Revit knowledge and experience required
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp and other industry accepted software as well as expertise with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite products is needed

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to have, but not required)

  • Preferred licensed architect in California (or eligible for licensure)
  • LEED accreditation preferred


Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA's robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $64,400 - 86,300
