Microbiologist

Schedule: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Pay: $25.00/hour

The Microbiologist will be responsible for performing microbiological and analytical tests. Your key responsibilities will include conducting general food microbiological testing, including tests for pathogenic microbes, and assisting with sample preparation, testing, and data analysis.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform general microbiological testing on food products, including testing for pathogenic microbes under the supervision of the Quality Assurance Supervisor.
• Obtain samples from production, prepare them for testing, and prepare media as outlined in the testing protocol.
• Count and record microbiological plate counts and communicate findings to the Quality Assurance department.
• Assist in maintaining inventory of lab supplies and purchasing new materials as needed.
• Assist in processing samples from receipt through testing, ensuring documentation is thorough, complete, and timely.
• Communicate effectively with the Quality Assurance Supervisor or other departments to ensure compliance and resolve any issues.
• Assist with non-routine physical-chemical analysis tasks, experiments, and product development support as needed.
• Ensure that all microbiological testing is performed on time and in accordance with established protocols.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and GLP (Good Laboratory Practices).

Knowledge & Skills:

• 1-2 years of experience in microbiological testing or food analysis, with basic knowledge of microbiology.
• Prior QA/QC experience in food manufacturing is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed with reasonable notice.
• Ability to work with all types of food ingredients, including meat, nuts, dairy, and eggs.
• A Bachelor's degree in food science, chemistry, microbiology, biology, or a related field is required.
