We are currently seeking a Benefits Specialist (US Remote) to join our team in Plano, Texas (US-TX), United States (US).

Customer and solution focused professional responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy of employee payroll deductions related to benefits, ensuring compliance with company policies, applicable laws, and benefit plan terms by meticulously examining payroll records, benefit enrollment data, and related documentation to identify discrepancies and potential issues with employee benefit deductions and contributions; collaborating with HR , Vendors and payroll departments to rectify any errors or non-compliance issues

Key responsibilities:

  • Auditing Payroll Data:
    • Examining payroll records for accuracy in benefit deductions, including health insurance premiums, retirement contributions, flexible spending accounts (FSAs), and other employee benefit deductions.
  • Benefit Plan Compliance:
    • Verifying that benefit deductions align with the terms of the employee benefit plans, including eligibility requirements, contribution rates, and coverage levels.
  • Data Reconciliation:
    • Matching benefit deductions on payroll with corresponding information from benefit providers' invoices and statements.
  • Identifying Discrepancies:
    • Investigating discrepancies in benefit deductions, such as missing deductions, incorrect amounts, or discrepancies in employee eligibility.
    • Compliance with Regulations:
    • Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations regarding payroll deductions and benefit administration, including reporting requirements.
  • Internal Controls:
    • Assessing the internal controls related to payroll and benefit deductions to identify potential areas for improvement.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Preparing detailed audit reports each payroll and quarterly summarizing findings, including any potential cost savings opportunities and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Collaboration with Vendor, HR and Payroll:
    • Working closely with vendors, HR and payroll teams to address identified issues and implement necessary changes to payroll processes.
  • Employee Inquiries:
    • Responding to employee inquiries regarding benefit deductions and plan details.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of payroll and benefits administration principles
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state employment laws, including regulations regarding payroll deductions and benefit plans
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with HR, payroll, and benefit providers
  • Experience with payroll and benefits software systems

Edu / Experience Requirements: 6+ years of relevant experience, Undergraduate degree
