Job Description - Maintenance Mechanic IIVacancies exist for the position of Maintenance Mechanic IIin the Maintenance section of Tucson Power Production. All job offers are contingent on successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Starting pay for this position is $54.89 per hour. Dates are subject to change based on business needs, weather and unforeseen circumstances. ** Normal Minimum Requirements: * Must have successfully completed a Maintenance Mechanic II training program or have equivalent training in a similar job classification (4-5 years as a mechanic in an industrial, manufacturing, or utility setting) *PLEASE NOTE: To be considered for this position, a resume and Letter of Interest must be submitted. Verification of completed training requirements must be included in your resume. Your Resume must enumerating qualifications and skills. There will be a three-part testing procedure employed for this position. The first step is a written technical skills test, followed by a practical test and a behavioral based core competency interview. Each step of the process must be passed in order to progress to the next step. TECHNICAL SKILLS WRITTEN TEST OUTLINE Have knowledge of the following functions, operations, and systems: As stated above, if you achieve a test score of 85% or higher on the written exam, you will then move into the practical testing portion of the bid. PRACTICAL TEST OUTLINE Precision Measuring Successful completion of the above requirement moves you into the oral behavioral interview process. Behavior Based Interviews The interview dealing with the Core Competencies is a process called Behavioral Interviewing. In this process we believe that past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior...more recent behavior is a better predictor of future behavior than older behavior, and that long-standing trends are better predictors of behavior than isolated incidents. We therefore have patterned the questions during the interview to solicit behavior patterns that indicate with high predictability whether the candidate can perform the job as required. This type of interview is different than those that you may have taken in the past. Analyze the job or position being interviewed for and determine the skills required. Evaluate your own background to identify your skills and experience related to the job. Develop & Rehearse brief scenarios about how you used those skills, each illustrating a specific activity of task required by the job. Each scenario should explain the problem, your solution and the results in quantifiable terms. Be prepared to give examples of occasions when results were different than expected. Your skill in handling failure as well as success is important. Be prepared for questions asking for more detail than you've initially given. Position Description: The primary duties of a Maintenance Mechanic II are to test, repair, maintain, overhaul and modify all mechanical plant equipment at the highest level of skill in accordance with plant procedures and directions, and to perform related duties as directed, including the duties of lower classifications.
