Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Building and Grounds Superintendent, this position will participate in the delivery of maintenance for Recreation & Wellbeing's facility services department at the Nicholas Recreation Center. This position provides leadership for the maintenance of recreational facilities and equipment, directs and plans building operations, and assists the Building and Grounds Superintendent and the Associate Director of Facility Services with planning and budgeting for facility operations and equipment. This facility features a 50 meter competition swimming pool, 8 wood floor gymnasiums, multi-purpose studios, and over 30,000 square feet of fitness space. A typical schedule is Monday-Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm but may adjust based on Rec Well needs. Responsibilities: Supervises building and grounds staff to meet the needs of the university, its employees, and visitors. 25% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees 25% Develops and schedules unit operational work plans 25% Schedules logistics and secures resources for the completion of established projects 25% Communicates unit goals and objectives, implements unit operational policies and procedures, and provides training and feedback to ensure safety and compliance Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison. Diploma Qualifications: Required: - 3 years of previous experience maintaining facilities and equipment. - Ability to communicate with Rec Well professional and student employees on small facility projects - Knowledge and experience in budgeting and managing expenses - Ability to create and manage work schedules for direct reports - Ability to identify, diagnose, and implement effective solutions to facility maintenance issues Preferred: - Previous supervisory experience of full-time staff - Previous experience and knowledge of fitness equipment repair Work Type: Full Time: 100% This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location. Appointment Type, Duration: Ongoing/Renewable Salary: Minimum $60,000 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications The starting salary for the position is $60,000. Actual salary will be based on experience and qualifications.
