Construction Services Operations Manager Requisition Number: 2025-1470-02 S&ME is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Construction Services Operations Manager to become part of our Construction Services team in Nashville, Tennessee. What You Will Do: As a Construction Services Operations Manager, you will lead a team of Managers, professionals, and administrative staff, focusing on achieving key department metrics, such as revenue growth, chargeability, billing, collections, and project profitability. You will work closely with local leadership and the Regional Director of Client Development to identify, develop, and secure project opportunities, build and maintain client relationships, and ensure project success. Additionally, you will oversee project management for key clients, manage project deliverables, and ensure compliance with the AASHTO Quality System.
Provide direct supervision to Field and Laboratory Services Managers, professionals, and administrative support staff, ensuring team productivity and alignment with department goals.
Manage department metrics, including revenue growth, staff utilization, project billing, collections, and profitability.
Lead business development efforts by collaborating with local leadership and client development teams to identify and secure new projects.
Oversee project management for key clients, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget, including billing and accounts receivable (AR) tracking.
Ensure compliance with the AASHTO Quality System, maintaining quality standards across all operations and projects.
Who You Are:
You have a High School diploma or GED (Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering or a Construction-related field preferred).
You have 6+ years of experience in Operational and/or Project Management, with experience within the A/E/C industry.
You have experience building and maintaining client relationships, with a proven ability to grow a business, win work, and increase backlog.
You have the ability and desire to divide time between the office and regular site visits in the field to support and engage field staff.
You have demonstrated positive leadership and management skills with a good understanding of business metrics, sales, client development and service, safety policies/procedures, human resources policies/procedures, risk management concepts, and other applicable project management procedures.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands: You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:
Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions.
Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day.
Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. (field/laboratory samples and equipment).
Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites.
