Position Overview: The Machine Learning (ML) Engineer serves a critical role in the success of the HEN trading platform. In this role, the Engineer will design, develop, and optimize machine learning models and algorithms for real-world applications. This will include building scalable solutions for pricing, demand, supply, and renewable trends that affect the market. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in data science, deep learning, and algorithm development to support the company's trading, investment, and risk management strategies.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and enhance algorithmic bidding and execution models for Day-Ahead and Real-Time markets, optimizing trading strategies using advanced machine learning techniques.
• Conduct market analytics, including forecasting supply, demand, congestion impacts, and trends in renewable generation, leveraging data-driven insights to inform trading decisions.
• Design and implement time series forecasting models using machine learning and deep learning techniques, extracting meaningful features to enhance predictive accuracy.
• Monitor and assess deployed models for stability, detecting data drift, and scheduling periodic retraining to ensure optimal performance.
• Collaborate with traders, software engineers, and data scientists to integrate ML-driven insights into production systems and optimize revenue strategies.
• Leverage cloud-based solutions and ML operations practices to enable scalable, efficient, and automated model deployment.

Required Qualifications:

• Education and Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years of industry experience, or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• Programming: Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in ML frameworks such as TensorFlow and Scikit-learn.
• Data Management: Proficiency in data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and extract actionable insights.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaboration: Effective teamwork and collaboration in cross-functional environments.
• Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic setting and adapt to changing market conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud computing platforms and ML deployment tools.
• Programming: Exposure to Mixed-Integer Programming is a plus.
• Energy Knowledge: Understanding of power market operations, regulations, and pricing dynamics.
• Optimization Experience: Experience in energy trading, optimization research, or revenue analysis, with a strong focus on data-driven decision-making.
