The Human Resources (HR) Generalist requires a diligent self-starter to support HR team in key areas including employee relations, employee engagement, performance management, policy creation and implementation, and employment law compliance. The ideal candidate will be professional, detail-oriented, organized, collaborative, and able to manage projects in a fast-paced environment.

This position reports to a Senior Manager, Human Resources.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with managers and directors across the firm as an HRBP, providing strategic advice on talent management, employee relations, compliance, workforce planning and succession planning
  • Support complex employee relations issues; conduct thorough and objective investigations and offer recommendations for disciplinary action, performance improvement plans, and terminations
  • In collaboration with the HR Manager, oversee the firm's employee accommodations process to maintain ADA compliance
  • Assist with the development and administration of programs, policies, procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the firm
  • Work with managers and recruiting to maintain job descriptions
  • Assist with internal engagement events and projects
  • Complete industry surveys and respond to data requests
  • Remain current on legislation and HR related changes; recommend, evaluate and/or make changes in working with HR leadership to support firm strategy; maintain positive working relationships with internal & external customers, and vendors
  • Other special projects as assigned by the HR leadership team

Qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably with a Human Resources emphasis
  • 3-5 years of experience in HR, preferably in a professional services or legal environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills both oral and written
  • Strong computer and technical skills, Workday HRMS knowledge a plus
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration
  • Strong understanding of state and federal requirements and regulations
  • Ability to work discreetly and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to identify and analyze issues and problems; recommend and implement solutions; and respond effectively to sensitive inquires and complaints
  • Practices a spirit of continuous improvement
  • Exercises flexibility and sound judgment at all times and in all situations
  • Ability to respond calmly, efficiently and effectively in stressful situations
  • Responsive, and ability to be available, including outside of regular business hours in an emergency or high priority situation
  • Ability to take ownership of special projects or make major contributions
  • Reliable, flexible and can-do attitude in all situations is essential
