Survey Technician - Internship

Description

We are seeking a motivated Survey Technician Intern for a position to support our civil engineering and land surveying projects. This internship offers hands-on experience in field data collection, mapping, and surveying techniques. The ideal candidate is a student or recent graduate in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or a related field, looking to gain real-world experience in the industry.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist survey crews with fieldwork, including boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
  • Operate and learn to maintain survey equipment such as total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
  • Collect, document, and organize field data for engineering and mapping purposes.
  • Support surveyors in processing data and preparing survey drawings using CAD software.
  • Read and interpret survey plans, legal descriptions, and engineering drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies during fieldwork.
  • Assist with office tasks related to survey data management and documentation.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or related program.
  • Basic understanding of land surveying principles and techniques (preferred).
  • Familiarity with survey equipment and software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or GIS (a plus).
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and rough terrain.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (preferred for fieldwork).


Work Environment & Schedule:

  • Fieldwork in various outdoor conditions, including construction sites and undeveloped land.
  • Some office-based work for data processing and documentation.
  • Seasonal position with flexible hours based on project needs.
  • Potential for weekend or overtime work depending on project demands.
