We partner with the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine to train future veterinarians, promote interdisciplinary relationships, and offer subsidized veterinary and support services to low income or homeless individuals. Responsibilities:
Veterinary Technician I (AN002)
Veterinary Technician II (AN003)
Tasks:

  • Perform technical and nursing skills as needed under minimal supervision, including administering vaccines, performing radiographs, venipuncture, and animal restraint.
  • Assist in demonstration and instruction of nursing skills, techniques, and procedures as needed.
  • Administer treatments or medications to patients as directed by DVM.
  • Obtain and handle samples for laboratory/diagnostic testing and communicate results with DVM or clients as needed.
  • Knowledge of preventative care, diseases and other small animal related care.
  • Assist in ensuring adequate inventory levels are kept and monitoring clinic flow.
  • Administer anesthesia and perform surgical prep, postoperative care, and discharge patients. Perform routine dental cleanings.
  • Provide client education and assist in addressing client concerns as needed.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Assist in maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment as needed.

Qualifications:

Requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. independently and physical and manual dexterity to perform specialized technical tasks.

This position is posted at Vet Tech levels 1 and 2. The level is determined by qualifications based on type of prior veterinary tech experience.

To qualify for Level 1: Entry level, new CVT grad with minimal experience

To qualify for Level 2: Generally over 2 years of veterinary tech experience, may substitute years of experience for specialization.
