Construction Materials Engineering Technician Requisition Number: 2024-1619-11A S&ME is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Construction Materials Engineering Technician to become part of our Service Line team in Augusta, Georgia. As a Construction Materials Engineering Technician, you'll spend most of your time outdoors, actively supporting projects while ensuring their quality and safety. Your contributions will be fulfilling as you witness projects take shape and gain hands-on experience. What You Will Do: Plan and Document Analysis: Review project specifications thoroughly before starting field activities; precisely document findings and test data concerning construction materials. Metafield Application: Optimize data handling by utilizing field and lab information management systems effectively. Instrument Calibration and Upkeep: Maintain accuracy and compliance of field and laboratory equipment with industry regulations. Compliance Testing and Inspection: Conduct material testing and inspections per International Building Code (IBC) requirements. Collaborative Reporting: Communicate effectively with supervisors, contractors, and clients to relay project updates and resolve issues. Who You Are: You have a High School diploma/GED You have a minimum of 2 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials You have two(2) or more active certifications, a plus: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils) DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete You have effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language You have math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure Working Conditions and Physical Demands: You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as: Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment) Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites Who We Are: At S&ME, we've spent over 50 years providing innovative solutions in geotechnical, civil, environmental, and construction materials disciplines.
