We have an opportunity for an Environmental Scientist in Waterford, MI.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Municipal Separate Sewer System (MS4) program compliance for several municipal clients in Southeast MI, Monroe and Bay Counties, and the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (MDMVA)
    • Bi-annual facility inspections
    • Detention basin/stormwater Best Management Practice (BMP) inspections
    • Dry and wet weather outfall and surface water sampling and analysis
    • Dye testing
    • Public Education Program development and implementation
    • Assist in conducting Good Housekeeping/Pollution Prevention training for municipal staff
    • Developing and submitting progress reports and permit application renewals
  • Perform Wellhead Protection Program (WHPP) Grant Application & Administration Services
  • Assist with the development of WHPP Plans
  • Assist with Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessment projects and report
  • Perform detention basin assessments and vegetation management planning for various clients
  • Perform outfall and surface water sampling
  • Conduct as-needed Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control (SESC) inspections at construction sites
  • Assist with proposal writing
  • Client coordination
  • Actively participate in civic and professional activities, societies, and organizations

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Natural Resources Management
  • 1-3 years of related field experience and project management experience
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform field work, complying with safety codes and requirements

Preferred Experience:

  • EGLE Industrial Storm Water Operator Certification
  • Familiarity with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting program requirements
  • Familiarity with Michigan Public Act 451, Part 201, and Part 213
  • Familiarity with Brownfield Redevelopment grants, building demolitions, site due care, and Michigan Public Act 381 work-plans
  • OSHA Construction Safety training
  • Experience working in the State of Michigan
  • Experience collaborating with local governmental agencies
  • Experience collaborating with clients
