Description
The Senior Grants and Contracts Specialist will work independently with grants, contracts, and clinical trial agreements from a variety of sponsors and funding agencies that may be federal, non-federal, state and local government, private foundations, and pharmaceutical companies. The Senior GCS will perform post-award functions such as award analysis, contract negotiation and account set-up, as well as management of the sponsor relationship. Specific tasks will include processing of sponsor modifications, submission of required sponsor deliverables, and non-financial closeout. The Senior GCS will coordinate with other teams within the grants office to ensure the award terms and conditions are met from award acceptance through close-out.
Qualifications
Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree Business, Health Care, Public Administration or related field. (Required) Master's Degree In similar fields. (Preferred)
Minimum Work Experience 3 years Progressive experience in grants or contracts related to biomedical research, and/or healthcare/medical programs and services. Preferred office environment is central or department administration, office of sponsored programs, office of research administration, university or medical center setting, or federal grant-making agency. (Required)
Required Skills/Knowledge Working Knowledge: NIH Grants Policy Statement , FAR and DFAR clauses, OMB Uniform Guidance in addition to 45 CFR Part 74, Appendix E. Math Ability Level: Basic Algebra and Statistics. Perform basic algebraic equations and statistics (average). Human Relations Skill Level: Critical. Computer Skill Requirements: Critical. Hardware: PC compatible. Software: MS Office including Word and Excel are critical. MS Teams and PowerPoint are a plus. Ability to use formatting commands and higher level commands and functions are a plus.
Required Licenses and Certifications Willingness to achieve credentialing as Certified Research Administrator (CRA) within three years of employment. (Required)
Functional Accountabilities Post-Award Services
- Responsible for award analysis and account set-up.
- Responsible for review and submission of the scientific progress report, JIT requests and other similar requests.
- Responsible for review and submission of administrative requests such as change in scope or key personnel, no-cost extensions, supplemental requests, etc.
- Responsible for updating department information systems and official records to keep information accurate, complete and up-to-date at all times.
