Job Overview & Responsibilities

United Launch Alliance has an immediate opening for a Sr Propulsion/ Systems Engineer- Solid Rocket Motors at our headquarters in Centennial, CO. This is a full-time, on-site role. This senior engineer will be an integral part of our recuring engineering organization and will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for solid rocket motor design, development, and testing. This individual will work with ULA suppliers and internal teams with the overall responsibility to ensure compliance with solid rocket motor safety and performance standards, as well as collaborating with multi-functional teams to achieve project goals.

Responsibilities may include:



  • Independent analytical assessment of solid rocket motor design and performance
  • Collaboration with solid rocket motor vendors in the development of integrated flight hardware and associated ground test equipment
  • Lead component testing and investigations
  • Collaboration with subcontract management to provide technical support
  • Support Engineering Review, Configuration Control, and Failure Review Boards as the primary SME for solid rocket motors.
  • Participate in mentorship opportunities to develop and cultivate solid rocket motor expertise and knowledge transfer within ULA.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface to program management, systems engineering, quality and customer counterparts

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 8 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from and accredited college or university.
  • 8+ years of experience in solid rocket motor design, development, and testing.
  • Experience in solid rocket motor safety and performance standards compliance.
  • Knowledge of propulsion systems and aerospace engineering.
  • Experience working with outside vendors and customers.




Preferred Qualifications



  • Familiarity with the development, design, and testing of SRMs flown by ULA or motors sharing similar design heritage.
  • Experience evaluating and dispositioning SRM non-conformances.
  • Job history as a Subject Matter Expert mentoring and developing less experienced colleagues.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Summary Salary Range (forULA - Denveronly): $146,507.00 - $244,179.00

Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
