About the role:

As part of the Global Sourcing organization, the Sr. Supplier Engineering Manager provides technical leadership for all purchased materials within the metals category to ensure product quality and delivery and achieve year-on-year material cost reduction targets. This role supports global sourcing teams with supplier selection, supplier process improvements and material changes, while overseeing the supplier engineering team in implementing solutions to resolve issues regarding new product development and production.

Your responsibilities will include:



  • Providing technical leadership in procurement management and structured investigations to address components and materials issues; develop a best-in-class supplier engineering team in engineering first principals and lean six-sigma and methodologies
  • Partnering with cross-functional teams and divisions to achieve business objectives
  • Leading and supporting material value improvement projects (VIP) and strategic activity reviews (StAR) to mitigate risks of purchased material stockouts, while improving supplier performance in quality, service, and cost
  • Collaborating with purchasing and cross-functional team to identify and develop new or existing supply sources including insourcing and outsourcing opportunities
  • Maintaining and improvement of supplier and material management policies procedures, systems, and tools
  • Partnering with procurement and supplier quality teams to develop and implement category strategies; support supplier negotiations for new product development and VIP initiatives
  • Managing headcount and departmental budgets including travel, project spend, capital planning and related overhead



Required qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in materials science or any engineering discipline with at least 7yrs of technical leadership experience
  • Minimum 5 years of people management experience
  • Working knowledge of statistical methods, six sigma and DOE
  • Ability to travel globally up to 25%



Preferred qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, or chemical engineering
  • Experience working in medical device or similarly regulated industry
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with metallurgy, metals and associated manufacturing processes
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals on all levels

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) - see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com--will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
