Join the HJF Team!

HJF is seeking a Data Manager I to assist with the research data handling requirements for a research study/protocol. This includes source document design, screen testing and approval, research data set creation and scientific graphics. This is the first of four Data Manager levels.

This position will be in support of the Department of Defense/Uniformed Services University Brain Tissue Repository (BTR). Their mission is to better understand the effects of traumatic brain injury and promote overall brain health of the warfighter. Using the best science, they support our service members and their families to help care for our military personnel after a head injury. This includes source document design, screen testing and approval, research data set creation and scientific graphics. This is the first of four Data Manager levels.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.


Responsibilities

  • Provides data collection forms and analyzes information from users needed for the development or modification of the data collection systems. Interacts with members of the scientific support branch, management staff, and others to accomplish the data collection and quality needs of the study.
  • Performs quality assurance of all study databases. Assists in the planning and
    formulation of policies, objectives and strategies for delivering quality assurance services.
  • Assists researchers in retrieving information from the databases and other multiple data sources. Provides research and management reports as requested.
  • Provides ad hoc data sets for research staff as required to ensure that research
    needs are being met as well as requested taskers from leadership.
  • Oversees data migration and integration from current data collection/management system(s) to future data collection/management system(s).
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis, regression testing, and plotting results
  • Able to work independently, complete projects on time with minimal supervision.
  • Skilled at adapting to project constraints and resolving problems independently.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the
    supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of system analysis and design, SQL, data upload and statistical data set creation for data analysis.
  • Experience with data analysis including the use of programming languages such as
    Python, R, etc.
  • Familiarity with scripting to include SQL etc.
  • Experienced with data extraction, data insertion into data bases and querying data
    bases ex. Mongo DB, SQL etc.
  • Experience with relational databases; excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check and CAC.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation

  • The hourly pay range for this position is $20.99-$28.85. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
