PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Shingles Materials Program Leader will coordinate with key stakeholders to establish resources, timelines, and acceptable risks for material supply security projects and lead a small team to accomplish these. This role will include active work in supply security projects which ensure availability of qualified raw materials for shingle manufacturing. The leader's role will include development of qualification plans, required screening and testing, plant trials, data analysis, and implementation of solutions. It will additionally include leading a small team working on similar efforts and driving the direction of the program.

The successful candidate will lead the Material Supply Security program for Shingles manufacturing which first allows for rapid response to critical supply shortages that prevents or minimizes lost production squares. Second, they will create an even more effective supply security program that reduces or eliminates critical supply shortages through proactive means including documented qualification protocols, updated material specifications, and qualified second sources.

The candidate will collaborate across Science & Technology, Operations, Sourcing, Product Stewardship, and Marketing organizations to assure product quality and availability.

Reports to: Shingles Innovation R&D Leader

Span of Control: Team leader who works across Roofing and S&T functions


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrate a Commitment to Safety



  • Commit to our safety stand: all accidents are preventable, safety is everyone's responsibility, and working safely is a condition of employment.
  • Identify and correct safety hazards in the workplace and improve the safety of our processes and work environments through Design Hazard Eliminations (DHEs).
  • Lead the Material Supply Security program in view of OC Product Stewardship practices and requirements
  • Ensure rigorous compliance to standard safety procedures and OC corporate policies.



Partner with cross functional resources and serve as project/technical lead for supply security initiatives



  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to establish resources, timeline, and acceptable risk for Supply Security projects.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with people at all levels within the organization. Track progress and any potential barriers to completion providing relevant updates to key stakeholders including plant personnel, innovation team members, operations, sourcing, and marketing teams depending on project reach.
  • Supply Security Project Prioritization

    • Create and maintain timelines for material qualification against run-out deadlines.
    • Make recommendations on prioritization of all resources (people, materials, time, budget) weighed against risk.
    • Make recommendations on priority for testing compared to other supply security and shingles innovation projects.


  • Manage 1-2 engineers in execution of supply security projects to prevent any manufacturing downtime resulting from material shortages.


Use material science and technology fundamentals to qualify materials inputs into shingles



  • Plan, coordinate and execute rapid lab, plant-trial, and testing plans for robust evaluation.
  • Employ statistical methodologies to drive efficient data-based decisions.
  • Complete Qualification Protocols, gain buy-in on, and publish (internal to OC) all qualification protocols for materials in shingles.
  • Identify additional opportunities within the materials space for productivity and innovation.



JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Science field.
  • 5+ years of experience in R&D, quality or manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and meet key milestones, to work and communicate effectively with people across different functions of the organization, and to contribute to the development of technical solutions.
  • Ability to travel 25-40% to manufacturing plants and raw material suppliers.



PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:



  • Advanced degree in Engineering or Science field.
  • 5-10 years of product and/or material development experience in building materials industry.
  • Experience with statistics to design experiments and drive data-based decisions.
  • Track record of translating customer and operations insights into valuable product & material solutions.
