Coterra is hiring a Purchasing Manager in Houston

JOB SUMMARY
The Purchasing Manager is responsible to provide leadership and guidance to employees who are performing tasks related to the procurement of equipment and materials in support of the company's operations. This role will plan, direct, and supervise all aspects of the purchasing function such as materials planning, bidding processes, requisitions, purchase orders and invoice approvals. This role is responsible to establish competitive bidding and negotiating processes with suppliers and vendors. The Purchase Manager will keep employees educated on purchasing policies to ensure continued regulatory and contract compliance and are responsible to develop sourcing strategies to deliver cost savings and internal efficiency. This position is located in Houston, Texas and will require some travel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee supplier and vendor selection process ensuring Master Service Agreement compliance

  • Has oversight of Request for Price processes, including proposal meetings, bid openings, bid tabulation, and vendor contract awards

  • Has oversight of vendor execution of awarded contract including timing, quality, and cost

  • Prepare and communicate up to date project progress to Materials Manager

  • Provide accurate project cost estimates and actual final cost to Materials Manager

  • Provide logistics requirements and contacts to Logistics Manager to ensure delivery expectations are met

  • Provide accurate and timely project information to internal accounting

  • Lead initiatives to challenge processes for materials procurement by conducting regular reviews of current designs/specifications/procurement/logistics to provide the most cost efficient solution

  • Other tasks as assigned

Job requirements

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Established proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis in Excel is required

  • Established proficiency with Materials Management Systems such as Syteline or other systems required

  • Experience with computer applications and ERP systems such as Enertia, AFE Manager, Schedule-It, Pay-It

  • Comprehensive understanding of oil and gas equipment and industry terminology

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with teams and vendors

  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a focus on innovative and practical solutions

  • Strong leadership and coaching skills to support and develop team members

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to work effectively with personnel at all organizational levels

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy

  • Curiosity and innovative thinking to drive continuous improvement.

  • Proficiency in negotiation and contract management to secure favorable terms.

  • Experience with procurement software and tools to manage purchasing processes efficiently.

  • Strong organizational skills to manage complex procurement tasks and deadlines

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum: High School or GED, Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management Preferred

CPSM or CSCP preferred

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

Minimum of ten (10) years of experience working materials in Oil & Gas industry.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
20% - 40% Travel will be required for mandatory meetings, training and visits to field locations.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMAND
Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting and standing. In the event that incumbent visits operations worksite, personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame resistant clothing is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.
