Job Summary and Responsibilities

Acentra seeks an Electrical technician II to join our growing team.

Job Summary:

The Electrical Technician II is responsible for inspecting, repairing, installing, and maintaining electrical systems, machinery, and equipment. Ensures all work performed meets required safety codes and is properly inspected.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain medium and low voltage transformers and circuitry

  • Installation of underground conduits, conductors, and fiber optics

  • Repairs and installs electrical equipment, switchboards, and distribution panels, repairs switches, relays, receptacles, lights and fuses
  • Runs underground cables and strings overhead wires; installs wire and repairs electric transformers
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair
  • Ensure compliance with codes for safety and efficiency
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices to ensure compatibility and safety
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components, using test equipment, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
  • Reads, interprets, and provides redlines for existing drawing packages that include electrical, civil, and mechanical and communication infrastructure

  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous

  • Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and ordering supplies and equipment

  • Read, understand, and adhere to all corporate policies including policies related to HIPAA and its Privacy and Security Rules

Qualifications

Required Qualifications/Experience:

  • Must have an active or have previously held a secret security clearance within the past year
  • 5+ years of experience in installation and maintenance of commercial/industrial electrical power systems
  • Must have experience with commercial and government maintenance of medium and low voltage systems
  • Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and dependable transportation
  • Must have high school diploma
  • Must have basic knowledge and ability to operate a computer with windows 11 operating system
  • Must be willing to travel 30-40% of the time

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • Journeyman, Master license, or any VA electrical trade school license highly preferred
  • Spanish bilingual
