PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for managing the activities of the accounts payable staff to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with established accounting procedures. Trains new accounts payable assistants regarding established goals and compliance with policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (performs other duties as assigned):
- Supervises staff and performs related duties of training, performance evaluations, discipline, and development. Works with Human Resources to address any performance issues that may arise.
- Oversees staff and prioritize workloads to ensure deadlines are complete in alignment with monthly close process.
- Drives standardization and implement process improvements, efficiencies and automation across the AP and/or AR function with upstream and downstream processes - develops and maintains procedures, policies and process documentation and ensures adherence to company guidelines.
- Identifies, provides recommendations and implements new ways to improve processes and work more effectively while also enhancing customer service levels and turnaround time.
- Works with Internal / External Auditors for Sox compliance requests, substantive testing and quarterly / annual audit preparation.
- Performs such other tasks and assignments to be determined by the Finance and Accounting leadership team as a result of changing business circumstances in a spirit of continuous improvement and teamwork.
Accounts Payable Supervisor:
- Responsible for ensuring payables are processed accurately and timely in order to provide accurate financial reporting.
- Provide escalation follow through and resolve problems associated with Processing Invoices; work with various business leaders as needed - provide solutions when issues should arise.
- Manage and oversight of the month end close of AP sub-ledgers and general ledger reconciliations of associated AP accounts with a high level of compliance and accuracy.
- Maintain strong internal controls and manage compliance of all Federal and State regulatory activities related to accounts payable, such as 1099 processing and escheatment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Five years progressive accounting, accounts payable or receivable experience
- Five years of supervisory experience
- Strong problem solving skills
- Customer Service attitude with a high level of accuracy
- Aptitude to navigate multiple computerized software and accounting systems
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (with emphasis in Excel)
- Oracle and D365 experience a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to apply analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources
