Laser Engineer

IPG Photonics Corporation is seeking a Laser Engineer in Marlborough, MA

Design and develop Non-linear frequency conversion laser projects. Optimize parameters and configure laser system; Design and develop Vacuum and Deep UV laser project set up and experiments. Assemble and align the laser prototypes; Research Laser system Degradation and lifetime. Provide FA analysis. Operate with metrological analytical instruments; Develop measurement methods and protocols. Test and provide measurements, data analysis. Automate, program and provide remote control of laser experiments; Research Laser system application. Provide laser-induced ablation and damage experiments. Provide Laser Lift-off; Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation detailing the design, implementation, and performance of laser systems.

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Lasers or related field or foreign equivalent degree. 2 yrs of related experience. Required Skills: Assemble optical/laser hardware and verify the performance of optical components, equipment, systems, and setups to ensure optimal functionality and reliability using Thorlabs Powermeter 405-1650nm, Extinction Ratio Meter, Optical binocular microscope, Signal Generator, Oscilloscope, Ando Optical Spectral Analyzer 350nm-1750nm; Conduct measurement and characterization tests utilizing advanced data acquisition software such as ThorLabs apps, Python, Matlab and optical hardware including Motorized Translation Stages, Apertures, rotators; Operate and maintain optical, test and analytical instruments: Optical binocular microscope, SEM, Bruker FT-IR Spectrometer, Cryogen Cooled Powermeter HgCdTe, 10 K Janis Cryocooler, Hydrogen and Nitrogen Optical Cryostats; Develop, operate and align vacuum setups using High Vacuum Turbomolecular Pump, Dry Diaphragm Vacuum Pump, Helium Gas Leak Detector; Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system using data processing software including Origin, Python, MS Office.
