DLO Group Lead MLS/MLT

Diagnostic Laboratory of Oklahoma- Edmond, OK Monday-Friday 6:30am-3pm

Essential Functions of Employment with DLO:

Main Duties: Perform tests in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, serology, coag and blood bank. Assist with specimen processing as needed. Follow employer policies, work with fellow employees in a professional, productive manner, perform instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Review and assess QC and assist with inventory and ordering. Additional duties include assisting with training, competency assessments, validations, and other projects needed in the department.

Required Knowledge: A solid understanding of basic laboratory testing, including QA/QC is required for this position. A successful candidate will possess good computer skills and be able to adapt to using multiple computer systems. The candidate should be able to take instruction from a variety of sources without adversity.

Required Experience: AS degree in Medical Lab Technology or BS in Medical Laboratory Science. ASCP MLS/MLT certification or equivalent or be eligible for national MLS/MLT certification. At least 3 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred. Should possess knowledge associated with testing within Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation and Blood Bank.

Special Requirements: Bachelor of Science (or currently pursuing) with MLS or MLT certification, with at least 3 years of laboratory experience preferred. Ability to maintain a professional, courteous, and pleasant attitude in times of heavy workload and stress. Reflect the company's values in all aspects of performance. Teamwork with fellow employees is a must. Keyboard skills are important. Good customer service skills, professional appearance and attitude are required. Must be willing to work overtime or other times/shifts if required. Able to resolve issues with little intervention from supervisor. Recognizes when to give support to teammates during staffing challenges and whenever is deemed appropriate. Able to direct workflow and give sound advice to keep patient testing going. Communicates well with team and leadership and is open to new ideas and new ways of doing things. Is willing to take on new projects/tasks as given by Supervisor/Manager.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

• The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects: Objects 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally; objects 36 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted or carried and objects over 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
• Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods of time.
• Frequent walking and/or standing.
• May be required to use a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses all of which demand significant manual dexterity.
