Position Summary: To support The Youth Ministries Coordinator (YMC) in all aspects of youth ministry, programing, and events, including overseeing employees, volunteers, care for children and provide a safe, positive, and beneficial experience in a Christian environment. Essential Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and implementation of activities and events that support spiritual growth in various age groups of children.
- Maintain files and gather statistical and financial data for corps youth and program efforts as directed by the YMC.
- Attend youth and program related events as required by the YMC.
- Work within our nursery to keep the children safe, teach them about the love of Jesus, Prepare, teach, and execute plans as needed by the YMC.
- Carry out a planned activity each nursery time (e.g., craft, game, coloring, and/or story time).
- Teach a Pre-school Sunday School lesson each Sunday.
- Properly clean and maintain all areas used for nursery care and youth programs.
- Work in close coordination and cooperation with Church Youth Leaders.
- Maintain focus on interacting with the kids.
- Check children's diapers and change them as needed and in a timely manner.
- Follow behavioral management policies with all youth.
- Maintain a safe and positive environment that facilitates learning. (Relay any noticed safety issues or need for supplies to the Youth Ministries Coordinator.)
- Work with children of Spanish/English class to bridge to Corps.
- Fulfill assigned responsibilities and hours during Summer Day Camp and the Christmas season
- Perform other duties as assigned
Additional Responsibilities:
- Work in the gym and kitchen to help with dinnertime during Wednesday evening activities.
- Set up and tear down events as directed by the YMC.
Qualifications: Education/Experience:
- Some college in children's education or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1+ year working with young children
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Seek to share the Good News of Jesus Christ using the positive influence of a vibrant personal relationship with the Lord.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends (including Sundays) as needed throughout the year
- Must be creative and have artistic abilities.
- Must support The Salvation Army mission statement.
- Preferred basic knowledge of Spanish Language.
- Be trained in CPR/Basic First Aid or get training within first 90 days of employment.
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
- Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint or the ability to learn programs.
- Knowledgeable in social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
Certificates and Licenses:
- Complete Safe from Harm training, and keep current as needed
- Must have and maintain a current valid chauffer license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR); or gain the chauffer license within 90 days
