Electrical & Electronics Engineering Technician II

OVERVIEW

As the Electrical & Electronics Engineering Technician II you would except to apply basic and some advanced engineering techniques and principles to develop, design, modify, install, test, evaluate or operate electrical, electronic, surface ship combat systems, avionics, mechanical, communications, stores, armament/ordnance, or related data processing systems for military weapon systems or associated support equipment or facilities. Provides for the maintenance, repair, inspection, and troubleshooting of system equipment or components. Organizes, analyzes, and prepares reports or presentations of technical data and information. Plans and performs tests and evaluations of systems equipment or components. Compiles, processes, reduces, or analyzes test data and results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Diagnosing faults in electrical and electronic circuits using diagnostic tools.
• Replacing faulty components and making necessary repairs based on schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Performing preventative maintenance on electrical systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Calibrating electrical measuring instruments to ensure accuracy.
• Maintaining detailed records of test results and equipment maintenance logs.
• Creating technical reports documenting findings and recommendations.
• Performing functional tests on assembled systems using various test equipment.
• Identifying and rectifying design flaws during testing phases
• Inspecting electrical systems and components to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Identifying and reporting quality issues to engineers.
• Performs repair, installation and functionality testing of electrical and avionics components on MH-60R to support reliability of system in preparation for CSSQT, Shipyard, and lab test events.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Education: High school graduate or equivalency certification. Successful completion of a technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school curriculum or course of training in electricity, electronics, avionics, mechanics, armaments/ordnance, or engineering technology; or successful completion of at least 15 semester hours of course studies at an accredited college or university in engineering, scientific, or technical curriculum.
• Experience: A minimum of four years' experience in the area of aircraft and weapons systems, shipboard combat systems, hardware, instrumentation, or software development.
• Certification: N/A

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

• Minimum four years' maintenance experience in the area of aircraft.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance.
• Possess a high degree of expertise of aircraft systems.
• Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, publications, instructions and special tools and test equipment.
• Must be familiar with operational capabilities and limitations of aircraft systems.
• Must be customer oriented and a team player.
• Strong verbal & written communication skills.
• Strong understanding of electrical and electronic theory
• Knowledgeable about testing equipment, diagnostic protocols, and troubleshooting techniques needed to ensure avionics systems are working properly.
• Ability to read circuit and wiring diagrams to build cabling and other components in support of custom MH-60R avionics mobile lab equipment (RoadHawk).
• Aviation Electronics Technician with experience in operational testing and troubleshooting of MH-60R avionics and aircraft systems.
• Experience operating and upgrading the MH-60R Avionics Operational Program (AOP) and Avionics Systems to ensure equipment remains up to date with the latest fleet release versions.
• Experience with soldering and wiring techniques
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
• Basic computer skills for data analysis, documentation and with the ability perform basic computer/network troubleshooting.
• Familiar with anti-submarine warfare, surface warfare, and electromagnetic warfare in support of ship combat system test events.
• Must be able to climb ladder well and roof access hatches
• Must be willing to travel and adjust to a fluid schedule.
• Preferred experience with SH-60, MH-53, MH-60 aircraft.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

May supervise or train and be assisted by lower level technicians.
