We have an opportunity for a Senior Project Manager, IoT Products to join our Apex, NC team. You will plan, direct and coordinate project activities in order to ensure project goals are accomplished within the approved timeframe, cost targets and project funding parameters. This person will foster a positive team environment that focuses on communication and collaboration with all other company functions - product management, marketing, operations, finance, supply chain, sales, quality, and customers. We are customer centric, developing new innovative products, and require an enthusiastic/dedicated Project Manager to help us realize our strategic initiatives.This person must have previous experience working with software technology and embedded smart products.The ideal candidate would have extensive experience as part of a team developing smart products as well as full-stack software solutions including smart end devices, edge/gateways, cloud backend solutions and services, mobile and web applications. The ideal candidate has experience managing hardware, firmware, and software solutions as the Project Manager must be able to lead complex projects requiring intersection of hardware waterfall and software agile design methodologies, understand and navigate dependencies, and execute project schedules with a large global cross-functional team focused on rapid growth initiatives in the IoT arena. You will:
- Leads New Product Development (NPD) teams to deliver IoT products and solutions consisting of firmware, software, hardware, mobile and web application solutions from concept to delivery and sustainment with a strong sense of urgency and project execution accountability, utilizing company product launch process (stage-gate).
- Projects may include embedded firmware, software, and hardware with the facilitation of development Blitz or brainstorming Kaizen events, chair project meetings, update task, budget, and resource progress on weekly schedule updates.
- The Project manager may also support the backlog planning of the three often used milestones; PI (progress toward solution), fixed date (build date, third party deliverables, etc.), and learning (validation of opportunities and milestones).
- The Project manager may wear many hats, including representative Business Analyst/Scrum Master, to facilitate involved engagement with full-stack development teams in support of accurate and timely user story translation, architecture understanding, PI Planning, SCRUM and Sprint oversight, and timely bug prioritization/resolution.
- Track, prioritize, resolve, and close bugs using Jira. Log issues, risks, and escalates any/all that may impact the critical path to project success while evaluating contingency plans.
- Responsible for managing large scale and/or moderately complex departmental and cross-functional development projects and monitor/control scope, schedule, and budget with project sponsors.
- Collaborates with engineering, product management, operations, supply chain, finance, and all other stakeholders to identify and prioritize critical project milestones and deliverables.
- Develops project plans identifying schedules, scope, product, and project success criteria.
- Maintains logs for issues, risks, Lessons learned, and documents.
- Identifies and schedules project deliverables, milestones, and daily task activities.
- Leads weekly cross-functional project meetings and maintain minutes/notes/action items.
- Continuously gathers feedback from all project team members to track progress and mitigate risk.
- Identifies project related issues and risks, documents all risks in the risk database, and escalates to the project sponsors and Functional Management early before they affect critical path.
- Maintains awareness of technical progress and risks for assigned projects, confers with technical personnel to identity and initiate corrective actions, resolve issues, and to schedule.
- Understands the role of project sponsors and uses the project sponsor to support change control (scope, schedule, and cost), remove roadblocks, and negotiate with stakeholders as required.
- Coordinates project activities with cross-functional team members to ensure project goals and requirements are met on schedule and within budget.
- Prepares project status reports and facilitates both technical and non-technical meetings/design reviews in order to keep management and other stockholders informed of project status and other related project issues.
- Will provide input for performance appraisals for team members and participate in 360 Reviews.
- Develops and maintains technical and project documentation, including project/process deliverables.
- Learns and master's all requirements of Pentair's NPD process, 3D (Discover, Develop & Deploy).
- Works collaboratively with other Pentair global design centers, manufacturing plants and strategic suppliers as needed.
- Lead teams through the defect resolution process and resolution of system issues.
- Coordination of hardware/firmware and software releases to enable project deliverables.
Key Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Engineering, Software, Electronics, IT, or related from an accredited institution (MBA or advanced technical degree is a plus).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desirable or can be achieved within 12-18 months of hire.
- 5+ years Project Management experience, leading cross-functional project teams without direct supervisory responsibilities following applied PMI practices in daily Project Management.
- 5+ years of engineering experience (prefer high volume production, consumer electronics, and product development environment).
- 2+ years of managing project teams related to embedded firmware, software, and hardware is desirable.
- Experience with one or more Agile software development processes
- Experience with one or more stage-gate product development processes
- Previous full-stack IoT experience is highly desirable.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with innate/natural relationship building communication skills.
- Need for flexible domestic and international travel according to business necessity as responsibilities may require project oversight with other Pentair global facilities (10% - 30% travel).
Compensation: For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $95,500 - $177,300/ year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs. This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus.
