Duties & responsibilities: * Utilizes digital skills with museum software to document and curate artifacts while ensuring that museum collections remain accessible and usable to future generations and researchers, regardless of technological changes. Requires skill in search engine optimization (SEO) techniques to improve website visibility and performance. * Uses fundamentals to update website content, digital displays and regularly performing website security checks to safeguard against potential threats. Uses limited knowledge of job functions, industry practices and standards for building, maintaining, and upgrading museum websites in CMS platforms, including required proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. * Develops collections documentation systems. Assist with archives and is trained in preserving the original material and providing access to the collection. Working with maps, dolls, glass goods, photographs, documents, recordings and computer records. * Contribute to collection management by designing museum promotions, educational materials, and gifts related to the museum's collections. * Filming and editing using professional cine camera/camcorder, with the ability to prepare virtual tours as required. * Additional duties may be assigned. Knowledge, skills & abilities: * Excellent organizational, technical, and computer skills including Past Perfect museum software. * A detail-oriented, energetic team player with a positive demeanor. * Addressing copyright and intellectual property considerations to enable lawful and responsible use of digital assets. * Demonstrative interpersonal skills which build rapport with a diverse audience including internal and external constituents such as board members, donors, and volunteers. * Ability to collaborate, problem solve and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner. * Ability to prioritize work, and manage multiple projects, also work independently with minimal supervision. * Highly professional and ethical conduct; adherence to confidentiality of private information. * Ability to work a flexible schedule including select evenings and/or weekends in support of special events. |
