Woolpert is hiring a Engineer Project Manager in the South Region H&H group to join our dynamic Infrastructure team at our Houston, Texas office. This position reports to the Practice Leader and is responsible for managing and supervising complex hydraulic and hydrologic modeling projects, ensuring they meet client requirements and are delivered on time and within budget. Qualified candidates will be a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas. Priority will be given to candidates who have experience with ESRI ArcGIS software.
Responsibilities
As an Engineer Project Manager, H&H at Woolpert, you will:
Ignite Growth: Build and expand Woolpert's civil engineering business serving pubilc infrastructure projects including highways, roads, bridges, stormwater drainage systems, flood control facilities, water and wastewater systems and airports.
- Inspire Teams: Lead and mentor passionate professionals, cultivating a high-performing team ready to tackle complex challenges.
- Innovate Boldly: Leverage cutting-edge H&H modeling software like Lidar, HEC-RAS 1D-2D, XP-SWMM, ICM and others to simulate water movement and analyze flood risks, and stormwater systems
- Drive Results: Lead business development efforts with Federal, state, and local agencies in Texas.
- Elevate Impact: Represent Woolpert as a thought leader at industry events, conferences, and client-centric engagements, while developing visionary solutions tailored to client needs.
- Oversee Complex Projects: Manage and supervise complex hydraulic and hydrologic modeling projects, ensuring they meet client requirements and are delivered on time and within budget.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate 1D and 2D H&H analyses for modeling and mapping floodplains and floodways in riverine and urban areas, ensuring seamless integration with other project components.
- Strategic Planning: Lead watershed hydrologic analyses for planning, outfall master planning, flood control conveyance, and detention facility design, aligning with overall project goals.
- Data Presentation: Assimilate and present data in comprehensive reports and public forums, effectively communicating findings and project progress to stakeholders.
- Team Leadership: Lead technical efforts on projects, providing guidance and mentorship to junior staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Quality Assurance: Oversee the production of analysis calculations and technical reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project standards.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work in a multi-disciplined, multi-office team environment, facilitating effective communication and collaboration across teams.
- Client Relations: Meet with clients to maintain excellent relations, concisely explain project status, and address or remedy client concerns promptly.
- Project Planning: Prepare project scopes of work, cost proposals, schedules, and contracts, ensuring all project aspects are well-defined and agreed upon.
- Financial Management: Control work-in-process, ensure accurate client billings, and monitor accounts receivable and collection efforts for projects.
- Multitasking: Handle multiple assignments simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to ensure efficient project delivery.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering and at least ten (10) years of related experience.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas.
- Experience operating hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software for stormwater analysis using software such as (EPA/XP/PC)-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (2D), ICPR (2D) and InfoWorks ICM.
- Team spirit and willingness to assist junior staff in a team environment to deliver accurate project deliverables within designated scope, schedule, and budget parameters.
- Highly motivated, strong organizational and time management skills, and excels in a multidiscipline project team environment.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
- Experience working with Harris County Flood Control District, City of Houston, and/or TxDOT is preferred.
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS software is preferred.
