Position Overview

The Inventory Specialist I will assist in various activities including cycle counting, ERP system material movements, receiving, storing, and inventory control of Instrument and Automation Services instrument service/repair materials. This role will have primary responsibility for ensuring inventory levels of materials to support lab instrument service maintenance and repair activities.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory, and reporting shortages.
  • Locate and pack inventory for shipping to other Exact Science locations.
  • Ensure timely transactions in the EPR system for inventory/material movements and usage.
  • Report shortages, damages, and incorrect deliveries on appropriate forms and to designated personnel, following approved procedures and meeting Lab Quality requirements.
  • Provide support for inventory control of non-conforming materials. Work with leadership to investigate and document non-conformance following Lab Quality procedures.
  • Facilitate shipment of outgoing materials to Exact Sciences locations as needed.
  • Participate in reviews of material consumption and projections for inventory planning.
  • Work with Service Operations leadership to establish and maintain reorder points and reorder quantities for service material.
  • Ensure proper rotation and organization of stock and participate in cycle counting activities. Trace problems related to discrepancies and work with Lab Automation and Services (LAS) teams as needed to resolve them.
  • Work within the Service Operations team to create and maintain purchase requisitions for materials to sustain designated inventory levels.
  • Ability to frequently and accurately communicate with employees, customers, and vendors in person, via the telephone, or by email.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for approximately 20% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work seated for approximately 40% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 60% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to grasp with both hands/arms; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.
  • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials and instruments with moving parts, lasers, heating and freezing elements, and high-speed centrifugation.
  • Ability and means to travel between local Exact Sciences Madison locations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field; or Associate's degree and 2 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties, or high school degree/general education diploma and 4 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, inventory management, or material handling related to operations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, or Teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a laboratory environment, preferably in a GMP, CAP/CLIA, and/or ISO13485 environment.
  • 1+ year of experience using SAP or other ERP systems for inventory management.
  • 1+ year of experience performing cycle counting and/or physical inventory activities.

Salary Range:

$42,000.00 - $67,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to be considered for company stock at hire and on an annual basis.
