Summary

Spire is seeking an experienced, collaborative Project Manager II. This position focuses on applying standards and governance, and creating awareness for Project Management, Lean Management and Change Management techniques on an Enterprise-wide level. This role will be responsible for driving the company's most complex, cross-functional projects with varying risks, constraints and/or challenges, and will be empowered to focus on value creation. A successful candidate will form strong partnerships with project teams and leadership to deliver the desired outcomes and act as a change agent across the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Drive a wide range of high complexity projects with varying timelines, cross functional teams, requirements and scope

* Analyze problems, identify issues, summarize findings and recommend courses of action in collaboration with the project teams, always with a value-added mindset

* Utilize PMBOK best practices to apply various principles and methodologies such as SAFe/Agile/Lean/waterfall/iterative/DMAIC, etc.

* Consistently implement change management tools and techniques in a flexible manner to optimize project results

* Work closely with business users to define project objectives, goals, scope, success criteria and deliverables, aligned with company goals and in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders

* Assess, estimate, and procure resources required to achieve project goals

* Develop positive working relationships with stakeholders and project teams to drive change in a positive manner

* Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path, and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team and ancillary projects

* Effectively communicate in an organized and knowledgeable manner with Stakeholders; provide early and clear escalation of risks, develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans, respond to changes in work or direction, demonstrate flexibility in approach

* Develop consistent project status update materials for key stakeholders and internal audit

* Develop project documentation and apply PMO standards and governance

* Coach, mentor, and lead project team members and 3rd party vendors, influencing all participants to take positive action, be accountable for their assigned work, and implement process improvements

* Develop and manage to challenging and productive goals and delegate effectively

* Conduct post-mortems and deliver lessons learned reports with a focus on continuous improvement

* All other duties as assigned

Essential Characteristics and Competencies
Supervisory Responsibilities

N/A

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited University in an analytical field (i.e. Engineering, Science, Business, IT) required

* Project Management Professional or other recognized project management curriculum required (for current Spire employees without certification, must be complete within one year)

* Change management certification preferred

* Other accreditations, such as PMI-PBA, PMI-ACP, Lean Six Sigma, etc. are valued

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

* 8 years of related project experience

* Prior experience leading large-scale, cross-functional projects

* Three or more years of experience in facilitating and leading Lean Continuous Improvement efforts is valued

* Experience with Agile development and project management techniques preferred

* Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required, including Project and SharePoint

* Prior experience in the Energy or Utility industry is preferred

* Hybrid work schedule

*Requires some work during nonstandard business hours

*Some travel required
