Scope of Position:

Operate on-site medical station under written standing orders, distribute and record staff and camper medications, and serve as an on-site advisor for hospital visits.

SCOPE OF POSITION:

Support the maintenance, upkeep, set-up, organization and cleanliness of campgrounds, facilities, supplies, and programs.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:



  • Must be at least 16 years of age.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:



  • Desire to work with youth, teens, and young adults.
  • Ability to communicate well with others from diverse backgrounds, ages, and nationalities.
  • Ability to work in groups.
  • Ability to enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards at all times.

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate well in the English language.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Under the direction of the Support Coordinator:
  • Clean common facilities, bathrooms, and meeting areas as scheduled.
  • Restock cabin and common bathrooms.
  • Assist with the set-up and teardown of program and meeting areas.
  • Help unload, move, and store supplies as needed.
  • Set-up of organized activities as requested.
  • Remove trash from dining hall and kitchen and take to dumpster.
  • Remove trash throughout entire site once daily.
  • Clean guest staff lodging as needed.
  • Work with permanent camp staff to set up guest lodging.
  • Learn fire safety procedures for campfires and fire pits from Support Coordinator.
  • Learn to build, maintain, and properly extinguish fires from Support Coordinator.
  • Assist in the maintenance of Camp Kuratli by:

    • Emptying all outdoor and indoor common trash receptacles.
    • Provide general building maintenance.
    • Maintain trails.
    • Other tasks as needed.




General Duties:



  • Foster and nurture Christian faith and discipleship in visible ways to, and with campers.
  • Attend and participate in programs and spiritual activities as time permits.
  • Show respect for personal property, camp equipment and facilities.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff, volunteers, and campers.
  • Adhere to camp and Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the cleanliness of cabins and outside areas.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Support Coordinator.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, hike, and twist on a continuous basis for up to 15-20 minutes.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects, such as files, file cabinets drawers, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and on occasion up to 50 lbs.
  • Physical ability to respond to a variety of situations; must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant assistance in supervision of campers.


WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • There may be phone and in-person contact with others from diverse backgrounds who may be angry, hostile, confused, or frustrated.
  • May be required to work in all areas of camp including, but not limited to, the kitchen, dish room, laundry facility, and grounds.
  • Working in a distinctively Christian environment.
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases
  • Work outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather.
  • Work around dust, odor, high noise levels, and bodily fluids.


MISCELLANEOUS:

The Salvation Army does have a dress code. This will be shared with you at the time of employment.
