About the Role

As a Client Platform Engineer at OpenAI, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing and maintaining our endpoint management infrastructure across macOS and iOS devices. Your focus will be on building scalable, automated solutions that ensure seamless deployments, advanced security configurations, and efficient operational workflows. You will collaborate closely with IT, Security, and Engineering teams to implement modern endpoint management practices using automation, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and monitoring strategies. This role offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge tools and contribute to building a security-first, automation-driven endpoint ecosystem.

You should have a strong background in managing macOS and iOS devices at scale, developing automated solutions using scripting and configuration management tools, and driving operational excellence through process optimization and collaboration. Your problem-solving mindset and attention to detail will be key to success in this role.

In this role, you will:

• Design and implement scalable endpoint automation solutions using Python and Bash to optimize macOS and iOS deployments.

• Manage and optimize our MDM solutions (Jamf Pro), ensuring compliance with security standards and business requirements.

• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions to streamline device provisioning and configuration management.

• Collaborate with Security and Engineering teams to implement zero-trust security frameworks for endpoint devices.

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated software deployments and policy enforcement.

• Define and implement patch management strategies, ensuring timely updates and minimizing security risks.

• Create and manage custom application installers to support seamless software deployment across the organization.

• Provide technical leadership in source control and configuration management, contributing to a collaborative endpoint management program.

• Monitor and analyze endpoint performance using observability and logging tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.

• Lead cross-functional efforts to continuously enhance endpoint security, usability, and scalability.

You may be a fit for this role if you have:

• Extensive experience managing macOS and iOS environments at scale within a fast-paced, security-conscious organization.

• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python and Bash to automate endpoint management workflows.

• Deep technical expertise in MDM platforms, particularly Jamf Pro, and their role in securing and managing enterprise endpoints.

• Experience implementing security tooling such as device encryption, zero trust networking, and patch management automation.

• Strong understanding of source control tools (e.g., Git) and their application in endpoint configuration management.

• Hands-on experience with cloud-based services and integrations related to endpoint security (Azure, AWS, GCP).

• Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve endpoint-related issues across diverse use cases.

• Proven track record of collaborating across teams, effectively communicating technical solutions to stakeholders.

• Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks, including CIS benchmarks and NIST standards for endpoint security.

This is a hybrid role and will require 3 days a week in our San Francisco office.

Compensation Range: $185K - $310K
