Essential functions / Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:



  • Operates, maintains and inspects pumps, valves, pressure safety valves, instruments, Cathodic protection systems, control valves, remote terminal communication units, meters, flow computers and various other pipeline related equipment per federal and state regulatory agency requirements.
  • Performs maintenance and inspection pigging on a prescribed schedule
  • Works unusual schedules for both planned and unplanned projects and available for emergency call out situations.
  • Open to travel with overnight stays periodically
  • Performs pipeline tests (ILI, hydro, Direct Assessment et.) and associated procedures based on regulatory requirements outlined in the Operations Manual and the Pipeline Integrity Management Program.
  • Travel to pipeline locations from Mt Belvieu to Longview by company assigned vehicle.
  • Basic knowledge of GIS applications
  • Basic knowledge with various NDT tools
  • Works directly with or sometimes directs contractors on a variety of pipeline maintenance projects, inspections and operations to ensure procedures are followed and tasks are documented when required.
  • Maintains communication as needed with feedstock suppliers, Tyler Terminal control room operators, and management.
  • Maintains pipeline operator certifications and training as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Initiates appropriate emergency response actions as necessary to control situations in the event of unusual situations such as leaks or non-emergencies including closing of valves and initiating contacts for assistance.
  • Maintains good working relationships with outside firms contracted to maintain the pipelines and landowners along the right-of-way and communicates any related problems to management.
  • Initiates repairs or provides recommendations to supervision on any operating or physical changes or work to be performed along the pipelines.
  • Knowledge and support of SCADA, and Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Understand/follow written or verbal instructions/procedures
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and company rules and policies

Qualifications

Required Experience and Skills:



  • Minimum of 3 years working as a Pipeline Inspector or 5 years of pipeline operations experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Satisfactory Driving Record

  • The following skills and experience is preferred:
  • Previous pipeline roles in operations, inspection, or Corrosion Technician
  • Knowledge and support of SCADA
  • Performing pipeline tasks (excavation, ILI, hydro, close interval survey etc.)
  • Pipeline operating - including, maintaining and inspecting of pumps, valves, pressure safety valves, pigging, instrumentation, electrical control systems, cathodic protection systems, control valves, remote terminal communication units, meters, flow computers, and various other pipeline related equipment
  • Familiar with DOT regulations Title 49 CFR 195 Transportation of Hazardous Liquids by Pipelines
  • Knowledge of 811 call process
  • Using pipeline locater equipment
  • Managing excavation projects on loaded and unloaded pipeline
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings
  • Corrosion and code experience - including NDT Level II certification, MT/PT/UT (thickness only) Level II certification
  • 2-year Associates degree of Applied Science in the field of Corrosion Technology and 2 or more years corrosion and code experience
  • AMPP (Association for Materials Protection and Performance) Corrosion Technician/Technologist Certification or Cathodic Protection Certification (CP1 or CP2)
  • Meeting with landowners and maintaining relationships
  • Pipe inspection and repair with composite sleeves, bolt-on clamps, weld-on sleeves, and cut outs
  • Inspecting, removing, and application of coating on pipe
