The Systems Engineer II role defines, designs, and implements technology solutions across the Hanger Enterprise. Using defined architectures the candidate will implement technical solutions that are fit for purpose and fit for use, while meeting all Cybersecurity, administrative, compliance, and operational requirements. In this role the candidate will design and implement system enhancements, monitor performance, implement Cybersecurity service requirements, and act as a liaison between business partners, technology requestors, and Sr. technical staff. Leading the operations of physical server and storage environments as well as public cloud services the candidate will help determine technology requirements and the associated lifespans including business continuity and disaster recovery planning. Customer service is paramount to success, as such the candidate must have a passion for customer service.



Your Impact

    Troubleshoot reported incidents and problems. Provide support for any problems associated with the platform infrastructure for OnPrem, IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS. Guide Jr. team members in the appropriate process and resolution steps
  • In collaboration with vendors and other 3rd parties, coordinate the replacement and installation of hardware and software solutions. This includes the installation of physical servers, storage, and network equipment as well as the installation of all software components including configuration of related services.
  • Implement technology solutions that meet technical requirements as defined by architectural documentation both on on-premises and cloud-based IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS. Document and maintain an inventory of all technology platforms. Install, configure, and maintain server software including configurations such as IP, SAN, OS, Policies, etc. Monitor, administer and support all infrastructure technology platforms. Monitor and maintain on-premises and cloud-based backup and recovery service as documented by Hanger policies and Standard Operating Procedures. Assist in administrating Microsoft Windows based server platform infrastructure. Intermediate knowledge of Linux systems is required.
  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise and acts as a mentor to Jr. staff members.
  • Validate and implement technology solutions as directed by management and architectural artifacts. Using established architectural building blocks and standards develop basic infrastructure capabilities ready for deployment.
  • Support on-premises and cloud-based backup and recovery services ensuring that policy and business requirements are documented, appropriately configured, and validated. Support operational legal-hold processes and configurations
  • Cybersecurity practices are critical throughout the infrastructure. In this role you are accountable to the appropriate evaluation, configuration, management, and reporting of Cybersecurity related controls and services. This includes but is not limited to configuration management, patching, versioning, and administrative account management.
  • Ensure systems comply with Sarbanes-Oxley, CyberSecurity, HIPAA, and Hanger regulations and policies as directed by Sr. staff and management. Provide reports as to system compliance and mentor Jr. staff as to appropriate control management and services.
  • Individual must be proficient in the administrative, operational, and planning capabilities for locally hosted, AWS, and Azure cloud stacks. This includes the ability to design cloud-based services as dictated by design documentation and architectural building blocks and artifacts.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is desired; 2 years of experience can be substituted for one year of formal education
  • 2+ years' experience supporting an Enterprise environment
  • Must have basic knowledge of programming or scripting skills in any language
  • Understanding of policies, procedures and management documentation
  • Must have extensive experience with Widows Server administration, Active Directory, Powershell, Linux, Microsoft Endpoint Management (SCCM and SCOM). Must have Administration and design experience with hardware in areas including compute, storage and backup. Experience with x86 hardware and Enterprise Storage Appliances and Arrays is required. Must have experience with compute and storage provisioning and administration in AWS and/or Azure.


Additional Success Factors

  • MCSE/MCITP, VCP, Azure or Citrix certifications are a plus
  • Understanding of storage, virtualization and cloud offerings
  • Familiarity with Citrix, Microsoft System Center, VMWare vRealize
  • Self-motivated to be a team player, with self-initiative to develop and understand technologies and solutions.
  • 2+ year's experience supporting a Windows or Linux server environment
  • Superior customer service skills
