Cognizant Technology Solutions is looking for "Sr. Application Developer @ Omaha, NE" to join in our team of IT professionals in a permanent role. Responsibilities:

• Participate in legacy system modernization: Leverage expertise in Mainframe, COBOL, JCL, and VSAM to modernize and integrate legacy systems with new technologies. Develop strategies for data migration and system upgrades.
• Develop and maintain Java-based applications: Utilize Java, J2EE, JSR-352, and Hibernate to build robust and scalable applications. Ensure code quality through unit testing and continuous integration practices.
• Design and implement Spring API services: Create RESTful and SOAP-based web services using Spring and Quarkus framework. Ensure APIs are secure, efficient, and well-documented.
• Implement and optimize database interactions: Design and manage database schemas using SQL and Hibernate. Ensure efficient data retrieval and storage by optimizing queries and indexing strategies. Maintain data integrity and security through regular audits and updates.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with product managers, and other developers to gather and analyze requirements. Translate business needs into technical specifications and solutions.
• Perform code reviews: Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, coding standards, and security guidelines. Provide constructive feedback to peers to improve code quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues: Identify and fix bugs in both Java and COBOL applications. Optimize performance and ensure high availability and reliability of the systems.
• Create and maintain technical documentation: Document application designs, development processes, and system configurations. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible to the team.
• Provide mentorship and guidance: Foster a collaborative and productive team environment through regular code reviews, pair programming, and technical discussions.

Must have Skills & Qualifications:

* Mainframe (Cobol/JCL/Proc/Control Cards)

* Java - Sprint Boot / .Net, Java, Core Java, Quarku, Spring API development

* DB2 SQL

* Agile Methodology - Scrum

* IBM Developer for z/OS.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position depends on the experience and other qualifications of the candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
