Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Health Program Coordinator I will work in the Capital District Regional Office (CDRO) with the New York State Physical Activity and Nutrition (SPAN) Program which oversees State appropriations and federal grants to implement proven strategies to reduce health disparities related to nutrition and physical activity by making healthy eating and active living more accessible. This position will coordinate Capital District Regional Office projects to advance healthy food policy and system work aligned with the SPAN Program priority strategies, support the goals of the Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG) and the NYS Prevention Agenda. The position will focus on supporting the improvement of health equity and reducing breastfeeding and nutrition disparities among sub-populations that experience disparities driven by social determinants of health. To achieve this, the position will identify and engage regional partners and community members to develop, coordinate, implement, and report on projects to increase access to nutritious, culturally appropriate foods for priority populations in places where people live, learn, work, play, worship, and age.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of experience in program coordination in a public health, health, health regulatory or human services related program; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience. At least one year of experience must have included supervision of staff and/or program management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of contract management experience.

  • At least one (1) year program or project management.

  • Experience working with food, breastfeeding, nutrition, or early care and education partners.

  • Experience engaging and educating community partners and local decision makers.

  • Experience developing communication materials promoting successes of projects and programs.

  • Experience contributing to policy development.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer-based software packages such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will be available.

Travel, up to 10% of the time, will be required.
