Qualifications:

Education Requirement:

  • BS/BA degree in Biophysics/Biochemistry or related field with 4+ years of relevant experience or MS degree in Biophysics/Biochemistry or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience.


Experience and Skills:

  • Hands-on expertise in analytical characterization of proteins using a wide range of physicochemical characterization methods such as SEC, SEC-MALS, HIC, CE-SDS, cIEF, DLS/SLS, DSF, etc.
  • Strong understanding of protein structure, biophysics, and analytical mindset to enable understanding of the relation between physicochemical properties and proteins structure/sequences
  • Previous experience with analytical characterization and developability assessment of biologics highly desired
  • Experience/Interest with high-throughput analytical characterization workflows
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and ability to meet aggressive timelines
  • Documentation of procedures, methods, data, and results in electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Team player and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills


Responsibilities:

  • The Protein Sciences Department within the Discovery Biologics organization in South San Francisco is seeking an experienced Scientist to join the Protein Characterization & Developability team.
  • The Characterization and Developability team works integrated with other teams within Protein Sciences Department as well as Therapeutic Area discovery project teams and plays a pivotal role in early biologics discovery by engaging in high throughput biophysical screening, molecule optimization and Developability assessments to enable selection of the best candidate molecule for further development.
  • The successful candidate is expected to have experience in protein chemistry and biophysical characterization of biologics using a variety of analytical tools - chromatographic, electrophoretic, light scattering and other analytical methods.
  • The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in characterization of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), bi-/multi-specifics, fusion proteins, antibody drug conjugates (ADCs).
