**This is a part-time position. As such, the salary is hourly. The Senior Solutions Architect will assist the government with developing a roadmap for the modernization of the Department of Interior (DOI) network infrastructure, as it completes the transition form the expiring GSA legacy contracts to the new EIS contract. The Architect will help ensure the solutions proposed by the EIS contract holders integrate with other components of the network and are implemented in accordance with OCIO strategic plan for infrastructure modernization. The Architect will function as the Senior Technical Advisor to a team of Subject Matter Experts from the department in support of the infrastructure modernization initiative. The Architect will act as a senior advisor in matters regarding primarily Identity, Credential, and Access Management with additional support which may include ZTA, SD-WAN, TIC 3.0, cloud-based solutions, as well as acquisition domains to help the Office of the Chief Information Officer modernize and innovate the DOI network infrastructure, minimize service disruption, and leverage common contracts and best practices to gain operational efficiencies.
- Assist the DOI with creating the overall technical vision and strategies for the modernization of the DOI network infrastructure.
- Assist with the design, implementation, and management of the technical solution by establishing a bridge between the business problems and the technical solution and outlining the phases and necessary requirements to make the solution work.
- Provide technical leadership to the Integrated Project Team throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop proof-of-concept projects to validate the proposed solutions.
- Review and validate designs from team members
- Provide subject matter expertise to DOI in matters regarding Identity, Credential, and Access Management.
- Aid the DOI in matters regarding the development and implementation of the Zero Trust Architecture.
- Support DOI with implementation of a series of TIC 3.0 pilot projects to determine how to apply the recent guidance from the Department of Homeland Security regarding the Trusted Internet Connection policy.
- Assist the DOI with implementation of Internet Protocol Version 6 to meet the OMB memo 21-07 requirements.
- Provide support to DOI by working with external organizations such as OMB, DHS, GSA, NIST, and service providers in response to their requirements as well addressing any technical and/or policy concerns regarding the modernization of the DOI network infrastructure and/or any other telecommunications systems requested b DOI.
- Travel to branch offices in other states to participate in discussions with government officials and service providers to assist DOI with developing architecture guidance for the modernization of the infrastructure.
Education |
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other related field of study
- Advanced training in networking and security

Experience |
- Minimum of twenty (20) years' experience leading the architecture design for IT infrastructure modernization projects
- Minimum of twenty (20) years' experience developing strategic plans and roadmaps.
- Expert knowledge in several domains to include ICAM, ZTA, IP6, and TIC 3.0

License, Cert or Registration |
- CISSP or equivalent certifications supporting the enterprise systems
- Current drivers' license
- Proof of U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the U.S.
- The ability to obtain security clearance enabling access to various Government facilities
