Permit Manager Location: Long Beach, CA City Light & Power (CLP) is a company at the forefront of the modern-day electric utility industry. We are a Subcontractor for a major utility provider in Southern California. CLP is growing and we're seeking a Permit Manager to join our team in Long Beach. The Permit Manager will oversee the permitting team and lead all aspects of the permitting process for various projects. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills to manage workflows, ensure compliance with jurisdictional requirements, and coordinate seamlessly with internal departments and external agencies. The Permit Manager will be responsible for supervising, managing escalations, and streamlining permitting operations to meet project deadlines.
- Leadership and Oversight: Manage and mentor the permitting team, ensuring alignment with company goals and professional growth for team members.
- Strategic Permit Planning: Oversee the review of new projects to identify permitting needs and develop strategies for efficient permit acquisition based on jurisdictional requirements.
- Workflow Management: Coordinate closely with the field group and other departments to ensure permits are acquired and utilized within the necessary timelines.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure all permit applications and processes comply with agency requirements, including accurate documentation and adherence to deadlines.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for complex or escalated issues with permitting agencies, fostering positive relationships and timely resolution of challenges.
- Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for improving permitting processes, implement best practices, and maintain an organized digital filing system.
- Reporting: Regularly track and report on permitting status, costs, and team performance metrics to management.

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of five (5+) years of experience in permitting, construction, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of permitting processes and jurisdictional requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills, with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience interacting with external agencies and internal teams.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Schedule:
- Full-time, 6:00am to 2:30pm, Monday-Friday
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
- You must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
- Valid Driver's License required
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly payrate: $30.00 to $34.00 based on experience
