Purpose
The purpose of this role is to coordinate, administer and supervise contract activities associated with construction, utilities, and solar projects. Specifically, the Contract Administrator participates in the negotiation, documentation and administration of contracts and subcontracts. This role provides support to management through providing professional judgment and thorough knowledge of construction contracts.

Essential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below.

Company / Entity
  1. Actively supports the achievement of construction, utilities, and solar goals and objectives by applying expert knowledge of company's contracting, finance, purchasing, engineering and controls procedures, and construction practices.
  2. Promotes and protects Teichert's values including diversity, teamwork, fair work environment and respect of others in order to maintain a "team" spirit within the business unit and on project teams; works and cooperates with other disciplines across company lines to ensure maximum and best uses of Teichert resources.
  3. Collaborates across area offices and ensures particular focus on consistency of contract administrative reporting practices and procedures. Adheres to policies, procedures, and standards that protect the company interests.
  4. Promotes and protects the community perception of Teichert.
  5. Acts as principal contract expert to evaluate project contracts and proposals for adherence to client and Teichert requirements; uses independent judgment to evaluate project needs and make recommendations to avoid potential problems; works with management and legal experts to assist in interpreting and modifying contractual language. Assists in establishing standards, policies, procedures, monitoring systems, and evaluation for all contract administration efforts.
  6. Participates in the negotiation, documentation and administration of contracts and subcontracts; prepares bid proposal letters and bid packages including insurance certificates, bonds, lien notices, and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) documents; prepares bid evaluations and places purchase orders; expedites various contract document issuances for necessary approvals and signatures.

Technical / Specialty Area
  1. Monitors contract agreements through interfacing with owners and other departments on a regular basis to identify and manage critical dates and job performance; may assist in resolving invoice and accounting problems with vendors.
  2. Assists Estimators and others in negotiating contract change orders (CCO's) through timely processing extra work items and contract change orders.
  3. Assists in achieving a zero-injury culture through supporting safety programs and actively participating in appropriate safety meetings and training sessions in an effort to maintain a safe and healthy work environment and to meet corporate safety standards.
  4. Builds and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external customers. Facilitates communication of company, project, and reporting policies. Maintains a favorable impression of the company with external customers through professional and courteous interactions.
  5. Completes internal organization and documentation through preparing/maintaining master agreement forms, project logs, files, records, reports and documents for use in reconciling one or more of the following: bid packages including Disadvantaged Business (DB) and Woman Business Enterprise (WBE),bid bonds, master agreement forms, bid evaluations, insurance certificates, set-up breakdowns, purchase orders, change orders; assists in preparing and maintaining up-to-date written guidelines and manuals pertaining to Contract Administration.

  • Construction, Utilities, and Solar Estimators, Project Managers, Superintendents, Corporate FAST Team, Teichert Materials, and Mobile Equipment

Role Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
Experience & Industry Expertise:
  • Minimum of 3 yrs experience/knowledge of construction subcontracts and contracts, or equivalent combinations of technical training and related construction experience

Specific Job Requirements:
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation.
  • Current on all company required safety training.
  • Strong knowledge/understanding of Construction Contract requirements/law.
  • Requires use of conventional contracting techniques and concepts.
  • Good knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, personnel issues and EEO.
  • Strong knowledge of industry practices, processes, standards, technology, equipment methods, General Accounting Principals, cost control, procurement, schedules, etc. and their impact on construction activities.
  • Good knowledge of the various disciplines and procedures within company.
  • Knowledge of company's Standard Operating Policies and Procedures.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office (Word & Excel), Adobe Products, and DocuSign
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
