Position Summary
This position will serve as an Associate Clinical Research Coordinator within the Department of Psychiatry, Institute for Trauma Recovery. The Associate Clinical Research Coordinator is responsible for the execution of clinical research protocols, including leading efforts in gathering, compiling, and reporting data for a variety of research studies.

The UNC Institute for Trauma Recovery (https://www.med.unc.edu/itr/) has two overarching goals. The first goal is to increase understanding of how adverse posttraumatic neuropsychiatric sequelae (e.g., posttraumatic stress disorder, pain, depression, and other somatic symptoms) develop after traumatic stress exposure (e.g., motor vehicle collision, military deployment, sexual assault). The second goal is to use this knowledge to develop and test interventions that prevent these outcomes. Our primary strategy to achieve these goals is to recruit and retain outstanding, talented, self-motivated staff, post-doctoral fellows, and faculty who are passionate about improving the lives of individuals who have experienced trauma. The Institute for Trauma Recovery invites applications for a managing director to help advance this mission.

The primary purpose of the position is to manage the collection of data and identification of potential study participants for human studies. More specifically, the person in this position identifies recruitment resources, tracks the effectiveness of recruitment strategies, communicates with enrolling sites, oversees follow-up study activities, manages participant payments, monitors subject retention, and ensures data are collected according to study protocols. This person is responsible for training other study staff and work-study students in the collection of data according to the study protocols and ensuring that all study staff have completed and remain up to date in all trainings required for persons conducting human studies. The person in this position will directly perform certain aspects of data collection (for example, standardized surveys). This position is responsible for identifying unintentional protocol deviations and reporting these to the study sponsor and UNC IRB as appropriate. This position monitors site supplies and the investigational product, ordering and shipping more when necessary to not interrupt enrollment. This position will also complete all participant communications, manage regulatory submissions, and draft progress reports to be submitted to the NIH and IRB. The position will prepare and present progress to various stakeholders.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Must be able to use considerable judgement and skills in performing work assignments. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work and communicate with diverse populations effectively and professionally. Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team. Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Experience in clinical research with human subjects is essential. The ability to work well independently and with others in a team setting is critical. Must be detail oriented, conscientious, and be comfortable communicating with staff and investigators at UNC, investigators at other sites, IRB Office, OSP office, funders, and study participants. Must demonstrate ability to comfortably work in a fast-paced environment to coordinate multiple projects. Experience with IRB submissions, DSMB submissions, NIH progress reports, REDCap programming, data entry, QA/QC methods, participant payments, investigational product inventory ordering and tracking, and research participant communication required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Pre-med or pre-PhD coursework in one of the following disciplines: medicine, epidemiology or public health, psychology or other biological science.
