The Opportunity:

The Salesforce Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing customized solutions within the Salesforce platform. This role involves working closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and delivering high-quality technical solutions that drive business efficiency and success. The ideal candidate would combine strong technical expertise with excellent soft skills and a demonstrated commitment to inclusive workplace practices.

You are considered competitive for this position if you are:

  • A Technical Expert in Salesforce development tools: Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components.
  • Experienced in Salesforce APIs and integrations, and Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Marketing Cloud. A good understanding of programming languages, JavaScript, HTML, and CS.
  • Excellent with follow-up and follow-through, ability to work independently, and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Customer-centric in your approach, with strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with faculty, staff, and eCornell departments.
  • Adaptable, flexible, and you exercise patience and curiosity in navigating complex issues, with a high level of confidentiality and good judgment.

What you will do:

  • Architect and implement Salesforce solutions leveraging Apex and Visualforce, while orchestrating enhancements to existing applications
  • Engineer robust data intake frameworks utilizing advanced form-building systems and API integrations
  • Design and execute comprehensive data validation protocols and automated workflow solutions
  • Spearhead the development and optimization of Process Builders and flows to streamline business operations
  • Conceptualize and implement complex data models aligned with organizational objectives
  • Oversee enterprise-wide Salesforce administration and governance
  • Direct user access management strategies, including security protocols, third-party integration oversight, and delivery of premium technical support
  • Establish and maintain seamless integrations between Salesforce and external enterprise systems
  • Champion industry best practices and architectural design patterns within the Salesforce ecosystem
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated reporting solutions to drive data-driven decision making
  • Institute comprehensive documentation protocols for all development initiatives
  • Transform business requirements into elegant technical solutions while maintaining architectural integrity
  • Foster collaborative relationships across organizational and academic technology teams while delivering compelling stakeholder presentations
  • Serve as principal technical authority for Salesforce initiatives while cultivating team expertise through mentorship
  • Facilitate cross-departmental alignment on enterprise information management strategies
  • Drive innovation through continuous evaluation of emerging Salesforce capabilities and implementation of strategic technical enhancements
  • Accelerate platform evolution through strategic implementation of cutting-edge applications and technologies

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Technical expertise: 7+ years proven experience in Salesforce administration, performing day-to-day administration and support and declarative development with custom objects, validation rules, process builders, flows, and other aspects of Salesforce business automation.
  • Experience: 5+ years proven experience as a Salesforce Developer including Visualforce, Apex, lightning component framework, and the SOQL query language, with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Experience with managing Salesforce Account Engagement (Pardot) marketing automation.
  • Understanding of Salesforce development methodology, including using sandboxes and change sets.
  • Desire to continually learn and incorporate new concepts and technologies into daily work.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color.
  • Experience working with diversity, equity, inclusion, and wellbeing programs.
  • Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and wellbeing.

  • Certifications: Salesforce Developer certifications (e.g., Platform Developer I/II) are highly preferred.
  • Master's Degree
  • Experience with one or more of the following Salesforce add-ons: Drift, SMS360, Tableau.
  • Understanding of the REST and XML protocols
  • Professional experience in any modern object-oriented programming language (for example: C#, Java, PHP or Python.)
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
